Our friends have a White Elephant gift exchange every Christmas. We typically exchange homemade hits and flops and have a wonderful time. I made the Original and Hickory jerky. Samples were provided, to get the trading wars primed. The samples were a BIG hit and the wild trading was super fun to watch.
On another front, my husband has chosen this as his new favorite snack to battle pre-diabetes. With exercise and trading his snake choices to better options, like this, he has lost 35 pounds in the last year and is off the pre-diabetes watch list. I have to make a batch every month to keep him happily supplied. He no longer likes the store jerky because it tastes “too sweet.”

I have been buying this for my jerky the last few years. I use half the salt that the directions say. I use those seasonings with water and a tsp. of liquid smoke and marinate in the fridge over night. Strain meat and put on dehydrator or smoker.
