I’ll be honest, I eat a lot more jerky and beef sticks than I tell my doctor about – my blood pressure isn’t a situation where I should be buying this stuff. But I buy them anyway, and these meat sticks are some of the best I’ve tried. Eight flavors in the kit and even though I thought a couple didn’t sound great, they still were. These sticks are a good compromise between the mushy texture of real grass-fed sticks and Slim Jims, and the flavor is outstanding. I’ve sampled five or six different similar offerings from other producers and this is the one I’ll be coming back to to resupply from now on. Curse you, Western’s, for creating a product that is guaranteed to be the death of me.

i am a very picky eater and as I was setting out to go on a 3 month trip to Rwanda, I was nervous I was not going to be able to adjust to the cuisine. I brought this pack with me to have in case i was hungry. Turns out the food in Rwanda is absolutely amazing, but these meat sticks still came in handy. I would work pretty much from 5am to 10pm, so it was easy to get hungry throughout the day, I’d keep a couple of these in my backpack and when I got hungry they were more than enough to hold me over till the next meal. Because I only ate a few, I donated the rest to community members in the villages. I brought them again on my second trip back to Rwanda, and they were great for emergencies, or on the top of a mountain after a very hot hike. I donated them the second time as well.

I bought these to help fill the “boodle boxes” that our service academy parents group sends to our kids at the various military academies. My son said these were his favorite item in the box- and not just because I bought them. We sent him his own pack of 40 & he LOVED. We ordered them a third time & thought we’d try them- he wasn’t kidding. They really are that good!
Great flavor. Not greasy like some jerky sticks.

That the main ingredient is not fat. The individual flavors are robust. The best tasteing that I have found.
Tried I think most of the Name Brands compared to these, found Western Smokehouse Beef Sticks the best.
I also like that it doesn’t have a lot of chemicals for preservation.
Grandma & Grandpa –
Created by former long time owner Sam Western and his son Kevin it has long been by far the best award winning meat stick available anywhere. I’ve been saying that as a big fan for some 30 years. They always have had and still have a better texture and flavor than other competing meat sticks. I’m sure that is why they were wisely merged with or were bought into by a bigger meat company to create the present day Western’s . Now they are able to produce more volume of these great meat sticks, making them available for even more fortunate people in the world!
But with progress also sometimes comes pain. I very much miss the Western’s meat shop and store that was closed in Greentop when the meat stick business started to explode. In addition to the famous meat sticks, it had prime fresh meat, cheese, spices and meat rubs and hard to find edibles of all kinds, as well as delicious Award-winning hams, smoked turkey, cured bacon et cetera. Word traveled about how great this place was all over the country so it had visitors, some regular, from distances far and wide.
