This coffee is very, very, mild tasting. At room temperature it’s actually watery, though at fridge temperature it’s pretty good, and mild enough to be chuggable.
The bottles are opaque white plastic with a colored plastic overwrap, and the six-packs are held together with plastic can rings (ick). The four sixpacks do arrive in a cardboard flat.
3.5 stars.

I really like this cold brew from Java House. I got the Pure Black version and its a perfect description of the coffee, just simply smooth and flavorful coffee. I am pretty picky about my coffee because I often can taste sourness , bitterness (the unpleasant one), and even hints of burnt in many coffees and when that happens, I can’t drink it black and have to doctor it up with cream and/or sugar. I live in an area that has some pretty good coffee available and even from some of these purveyors, I can taste the burnt coffee taste when the beans are over roasted so it seems like I’m pretty sensitive to these off flavors in black coffee. This coffee had no sourness, no bitterness, and no hint of burnt beans. Another thing that it is missing (in a good way) is the grit that you sometimes find at the bottom of a cup of coffee. Nothing ruins a good cup of coffee like getting a mouthful of bitter fines that settles at the bottom. This is REALLY good shot of black coffee, and its ready to go at a moment’s notice.
I would like to know how much caffeine is in this 8 oz. bottle but I couldn’t find that information anywhere on the label. From my experience, it isn’t loaded with caffeine, I was able to have this in the afternoon and no weird jitteriness or anything followed.
The only thing that would keep me from buying this regualrly is the price. That being said, I would consider keeping some in the house and in the fridge for those mornings that you are in a rush and just have enough time to grab something and go.

I love coffee. All kinds of coffee. Black, espresso, cold brew – but while I am tolerant of bitter coffees and prefer my coffee black, I will admit I like a coffee that isn’t overly bitter or tangy, and unfortunately some cold brews still retain that bitterness. Not so with this brew! It’s medium profile, not bitter, and tastes great chilled. I found it easy to mix with milk and great for on the go since all the bottles are individually packaged. Perfect for warmer weather (or when you just want cold brew instead of hot coffee…)
Couple small things to note – if you are someone that drinks coffee at home and doesn’t really have a need for individually packaged coffee, I would encourage you to look for options that have less waste. Each bottle is individually wrapped with these coffees, and they are packaged together with the dreaded plastic rings that hurt sea life. Also, these coffees are still expensive (almost three dollars a piece at time of review) even though they are bulk.
Overall, though, I liked this coffee a lot and found it to be an excellent cold brew option.

Java House’s cold brew worked its magic when I was in a rush and needed quality cold brew. I am kind of picky when it comes to coffee, so I usually prepare my own and take it in my tumbler on the go. However, when I had to rush out the house, this one did wonders. Luckily I kept several bottles in the fridge, and when I had one on the road to my job site, it was so great to have a nicely chilled and smooth cold brew. The best thing about this coffee is the convenience factor of ‘bottled coffee’, however, not just a coffee, but a super smooth and quality cold brew that tastes amazing. There is absolutely no acidic or bitter taste, but a nice pure black coffee that is steeped for long hours. Overall, I love the taste and how smooth this coffee is. I wish it was bottled in glass, but it would probably cost more than three dollars per bottle, if that was the case. Currently, the per bottle price came out to be around $2.60, and I think that is reasonable considering the quality and the current economic circumstances.

I love coffee. This is not bitter, and tastes great chilled. I found it easy to mix with milk or creamer and great for on the go since all the bottles are individually packaged. I mix it with cold, flavored protein shakes to get a great start to my day.

There are cheaper on-the-go options out there.

The Java House Cold Brew Coffee is the perfect drink for busy people. I find 8oz to be the perfect size for a cup of cold brew coffee and appreciate the unsweetened straight black flavor here. I find myself adding a bit of my own creamer to lighten the flavor, but it’s otherwise agreeable. Though a touch too malty for my liking. Very comparable to the Starbucks cold brew counterpart you can find in grocery stores. It’s a bit strong but inoffensive- it’s black coffee!
My only problem is that the seal to open the individual bottles is unusually difficult to get open. I also like to peel away the plastic wrapper from the lid since upon closing the bottle the plastic can sometimes get in the way. However, it sometimes requires scissors to do since it’s quite strong.
Overall this is a good package and a good value. I find myself reaching for these cold brew bottles in the morning because they’re ready to go coffee in a perfect portion to get my caffeine fix before starting my day. I recommend them!

This might have been a decent cold brew if not for the price and because it tastes like it’s been seriously watered down. I don’t even like super strong coffee. It’s as if they took regular cold brew and added 30% more water leaving a weak almost stale taste. If you like your coffee super weak… go for it.
Otherwise there are better options out there.

I like to put mine in a tumbler, add cream, sugar, ice and I’m on my way. I drink this in the winter too, lol, though granted I live in the South.
Pro: The taste is awesome – a dark roast with a nice natural nutty kind of note to it. Smells incredible. I’ve made these for my BF and my mom who lives with me part of the year and they ALL love it. High quality, rich coffee. To me, this coffee is perfection.
Con: Nothing I can think of.
Verdict: Highly recommend – one of my fave food products I’ve tried out!
I pride myself on accurate, helpful, and honest to-the-point reviews.

I was happy to review this for free and try it out as I like coffee and cold brew to boot. So to be fair with my review I tried it multiple different ways that I’d enjoy the coffee. Off the back I tried it straight black ( as it comes) and it was ok. Not great but not bad. You can tell it’s been watered down or it’s just weak coffee. Either or is a shame to say the least. On the plus though it didn’t taste that bitter compared to a fresh cup and it was a smoother flavor as well. So it really is cold brewed at least. My next attempt was to add sugar and see how that tasted. Personally nothing changed other than it tasted sweeter but again it still tasted kind of weak. My final test to redeem this coffee was adding a Carmel coffee creamer, which was just a little bit, and personally I enjoyed this much more. It kind of masked the watered down flavor and tasted a bit more normal to me.
Overall Im sad to offer a negative review as I really don’t enjoy putting a product down but in this case I will lightly. I wouldnt recommend this item and Here’s why: I know amazon doesn’t want us to take the prices of items into consideration for a review but me personally the price of an item heavily affects whether I purchase it. I’m willing to spend more on something that’s higher quality over something that’s just ok or sub-par. So with that said for over 60$ for the Java House black unsweetened cold brew, I don’t think it’s worth the asking price. I think for that price this coffee shouldn’t taste weak or watered down at all. If anything I think the coffee should be more concentrated. You can tell it’s cold brewed at least and for that I can appreciate it more since its a smoother flavor. But again for that price I’d much rather try something else or another flavor.
