I ordered the “DAILY DEFENSE” version of this coffee because I like a strong, dark roast – and this is certainly that! I’ve brewed it in a reusable k-cup in the Keurig and in an old-fashioned percolator set to the strongest brew setting – the flavor is better brewed slower in the percolator. It’s robust, slightly bitter, and has a faint citrus finish that enhances the bitterness.
It’s mediocre hot, but I’ve really been enjoying it iced! Hopefully it’s giving me a little extra immunity-boost during this cold & flu season too!

Has a great flavor but i am unsure if it really made me any more alert or focus that regular coffee but does have some added benefitial ingredients. Not sure i would continue to purchase due to the pricing

It’s cool that it comes with all these cool superfoods while still tasting like coffee to the my uncultivated tongue. I served a cup to my coffee drinking expert though, who reported that it tastes a little weird, with cinnamon and spices that takes some time to get used to. I guess it depends on your palate.

I thought this coffee smelled and tasted fresh and robust. My husband liked it iced and said it was smooth.

Even though I am more of a black tea drinker, I really enjoyed this coffee. It has a very smooth and rich taste. The aroma of it coming from the bag is just lovely. After drinking this coffee, I really felt like I had a bit more pep in my step. So, I really do feel that it is energizing because it was for me.
I love that it is made in the USA and Non-GMO. It is certified organic by Quality Assurance International.
It states that there are 28 servings per container, but I do not drink coffee very strong, so I will likely get more servings out of this bag. However, it is quite a bit pricier than the coffee that I usually buy, so I will just enjoy this coffee when I need an extra energy boost.

I love that I can make my morning coffee healthier. I usually use Happy Belly hazelnut k-cups and have had them set up on subscribe & save for years. Then I add two truvia and a good glug of sugar free hazelnut creamer, so my coffee is more of a sweet treat than a bracing mug of black coffee.
I used my refillable k-cup thingies for this, and brewed it to 10 oz instead of my usual 12 oz. It was easy to pour into the refillable thing once I snipped a corner off the bag. I tasted it black, and it’s actually mellower and smoother than my usual coffee. Then I added my truvia and hazelnut stuff, and wow, it’s even more of a sweet treat. I’m going to start having a cup whenever I want something sweet. It’s yummy— all that extra stuff that’s supposed to be good for me is just a bonus.

My household is a big consumer of both coffee and superfoods, so when I saw this coffee I thought it was right up our alley to combine them both together. It’s a medium roast, so it has kind of a mild flavor, so we end up making a more concentrated version as we like it a bit stronger. I barely taste any cinnamon or nutmeg flavor, it’s very subtle even when I make it strong, and I definitely don’t detect any of the black pepper if anyone’s worried about that.
As far as the effect, I’m not sure it helps me in any way differently than coffee does as far as energy and focus. I can’t tell any difference except that maybe I feel a little less anxious than I do with other caffeine products, but that could also be because this is kind of a weaker roast perhaps, or maybe due to the superfood ingredients, I don’t think there’s any way to know. Overall, I find this coffee a bit weak and I’m unsure that the extra ingredients have an effect, but I do like the flavor and it seems to be a quality product.

As it was brewing, I was reminded of a coffee that Trader Joes sells at this time of year, “Wintry Blend”.
This has some of the same ingredients in it that “Wintry Blend” has, like cinnamon and cloves (among other things).
So you are going to taste those flavors in this coffee.
While this has cacao, for me, that flavor is subordinate to the more spicy elements in this blend
This just has that, “special day, let’s have a fancy brunch” kind of feel.
I used this in a stove top Moka Pot to make as espresso.
While I always prefer whole bean, the grind this comes in is on the finer side and did wonderfully in my Moka Pot.
As espresso, even though a “medium roast” it was delicious and sufficiently dark tasting to me.
Lovely coffee.
Glad I ordered.
I hope this review has been helpful and enables you to make an informed purchase decision.
I rarely give an overall 5 star rating.

I’ve been drinking lion’s mane mushroom coffee every morning for years, and I often add a little cinnamon to it. When I saw this organic Focus Coffee with lion’s mane, I knew I had to try it. I brew it in my French Press coffee pot, and it turns out perfectly. It’s a mild, medium roast coffee. Coffee is the predominant flavor, but I can also taste a hint of the earthy spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, and black pepper, as well as the other ingredients. This is a great blend for the winter months, but I would drink it year-round. I do not normally do well with ashwagandha, so I wish it was not in this coffee, but I haven’t experienced negative effects, so I don’t think there is a lot of it in the blend. This coffee gives me a mild boost of energy without any jitters, and I think it helps me with focus.

This coffee does not taste good at all. I like how alert and focused I feel after I drink it. It is an interesting drink if you were cramming for a test, but the taste precludes it from my daily use. I like to use a cup of this before starting to read a new book as it seems to help me retain more details.
