I had misplaced the two letter openers that I had and could not find any in the stores near me. I really missed them to open my mail. The delivery of the ones I ordered was very welcome and now I have several extra ones on hand.

Three stars because this letter opener is actually good quality for the money, but that’s really only because it costs so little that it’s hard not to be worth the price. The edges are moderately sharp, but quite roughly machine-ground, which means they don’t look as nice and probably won’t stay sharp as long as a better quality opener. The quality of the grinding also makes me suspect that results may vary from one opener to another (but I only ordered one, so can’t tell). The handle is bare metal without any rounding on the edges so it could potentially be hard on the hands if used a lot.
It is solid and sturdy, though, and seems to get the basic job done. Can’t beat the price if you just want a very basic letter opener for occasional use.

This Universal letter opener works fine. It is quite similar to one that we inherited from my husband’s grandfather! But I wish it didn’t say “CHINA” in big letters near the handle. The one we have had for years was just smooth metal. Oh, well, that is just for the gift consideration. The opener opens mail much better than a pocket knife, fork, pencil, or even scissors! I have tried them all at some point. 🙂 I got this for the other part of my house where I open lots of mail. I decided to get enough to lower the price and give it as a gift to all my grown children and one of my friends. With all the junk mail we receive, it will be handy for quickly opening a lot and seeing what is real mail and what is just free scrap paper! One thing that is NOT junk: salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross out of love for us! 🙂 Make sure you are not giving him “junk” repentance in return!

If you use it strictly for letter opening and not include box opening, it’ll be 5 stars. I opened a box with it and it bent the opener. This is not the same as my mother’s. It looked like it, but this is made of something else. Something… Bendy, lol… I gave it 5 stars because it opens letters fine, but would not re-purchase.

I am not a fan of the plastic letter openers with the razor blades, so when I saw this I bought it. It’s well made and opens letters as if created to do so. Terrific! Is it easy to use? Just place the opener blade inside an envelope then lift at an angle, letters open like magic! You will feel like a wizard as stubborn envelops open at a mere flick of the wrist, stupendous! Is it Sturdy?! It’s made of metal Son; you could chop a forest of envelopes without leaving a scratch on its magnificent surface, buy it. Value? You want to know about value, it is worth every penny, the satisfaction I get from slicing envelopes is the only thing I wake up for in the morning. The crisp separating of the envelopes and then the smooth removal of their contents make me feel, no I say, actually makes me a GOD. Buy this now and be a puny mortal no more!
