I ordered this because I was interested in a salad pre-made in a bag, like they sell in grocery stores as well. I was disappointed with the price, got it anyway. Disappointed in the ingredients, only lettuce. Just wouldn’t bother. The organic thing I didn’t understand at all it’s lettuce.

We recently adopted a pet rabbit, whose diet comprises of 75-80% hay and 20-25% fresh green vegetables. We normally don’t eat lettuce ourselves, and purchased this for the first time today. The ingredients pictured are organic Romaine, organic butter lettuce, and organic radicchio – all rabbit safe veggies.
When we inspected our package at home, the noted ingredients on the bag were organic Romaine and organic radicchio. However, upon opening the package to wash the lettuce**, we noticed that there are pieces of Iceberg lettuce! Iceberg lettuce is lighter in color and has whiter, thicker stems than Romaine. For comparison, we placed a whole head of Romaine lettuce in the sink (also needed to be washed; right side of photo). Romaine is a darker green with thinner stems. A labeled photo is attached.
Yes, the packaging says, “The ingredients in each package may vary”. But neither the photographed ingredients nor the ingredients listed on our bag includes Iceberg lettuce. It’s very misleading to buy something and find that what you purchased wasn’t actually what you thought it was.
You might be thinking, “So what if there’s iceberg lettuce?” Well, iceberg lettuce is 96% water and has no nutritional value for humans. It also has no nutritional value for rabbits, and the high water content will cause them to have diarrhea 🙁
Summarily, we are not happy with this purchase, and will only be purchasing whole lettuce heads in future.
**We are aware that the bag says “Triple washed”, but we always wash new produce with diluted vinegar.

Salad is the hardest thing to get right in a COVID19 world. I am high risk and need to have groceries delivered. My husband is high risk and needs to eat a LOT of salad. The stuff does not keep, and he goes through it like a horse goes through hay.
The closest thing to a solution for us has been physically drying off the leaves and keeping paper towels in with them to absorb excess moisture and keep the greens from rotting too quickly. In the case of these bags, we reuse a clamshell from previous orders. Extends the life of the greens by 2 or 3 days which means one or two fewer deliveries per week.
