I used this ingredient to make Keto bread. It worked ok. I didn’t notice a taste. Anyway, I went full Ketovore and don’t make bread anymore. Bread does not agree with me, even Keto bread.

And had a bit of extra money to purchase some powdered, shelf-stable items such as this butter. When I ran out of the butter in my fridge, I opened this pouch, read the instructions and added about five tablespoons of the dry powder in an old, clean butter tub. I then added cold, filtered water, a little at a time, to the powdered butter and with a fork, mixed it thoroughly. I added just enough cold water to make a thick, creamy base of the powder and then toasted a piece of bread to taste-test this butter powder. Excellent! Creamy and smooth, it was very much like sweet cream butter bought in the refrigerated section at the grocery store. I did add a tiny pinch of salt to it as I tend to buy the lightly salted butter. I am pleased to have this product on a shelf in my pantry. The pandemic has shown that it is wise to have this type of food item on hand in such a fashion that you will not run out quickly. This package makes enough to get a family through at least a month without buying more, but in my case, it will last much longer since I live alone. One less thing to worry about buying at the grocery store!

I got this product because I usually don’t want to add yet more oil to a dish but want a buttery flavor. And it does taste buttery just without the oil mouth feel. To incorporate it into a wet dish, I found whisking it first with a little water makes it smooth. It’s also excellent sprinkled on hot popcorn (Pop Secret Jumbo is THE best!) along with powdered cheese if that appeals. I use a microwave popper so again, limiting oil. For people who can’t handle oils or fats (GERT, no gallbladder, etc), this is absolutely a great product. Dehydrated butter isn’t just for preppers!

I tried just a bit of this and mixed it with water. The flavor and texture are good, but I still haven’t figured out how much powder to water to mix. The directions are no help, as they basically tell you to guess and keep guessing until you get it right. Well not exactly but it says “Conservatively add water to Butter Powder. Adjust water and powder to desired consistency”. Not helpful at all. I tried mixing 1 tablespoon of powder with a half tablespoon of water and it was liquid. I then tried a teaspoon of powder and added a few drops of water. Still not right. I still don’t know what ratio I’m supposed to use. It would be very helpful if the manufacturer would just state it on the bag instead of trying to be cute.
Another HUGE drawback is that the bag I got is only good for about 6 months. For what this cost, I expected to be able to store it much longer than that. I needed a little bit of powder for meals I’m putting together for an upcoming trip and had hoped to be able to store the rest and maybe save some for another trip, but I’ll have to use it up before then. “

My wife was asking why in the world did I buy butter powder. Well, if you are into smoking meats and making your own spice rubs, or even just kicking store bought rubs up a notch, this is something you want to have on hand. Everyone uses the basic SPOG or salt, pepper, onion, garlic seasonings. Put some butter powder in with that and take it up a whole ‘nother level. Works well with just about any rub (if it does not already list butter on the ingredients). Just add to taste. And in a pinch, you can reconstitute it to make actual butter!
