I wanted to support a local small business. It may be the variety, or the larger nuts were screened off for a higher grade, but these are small nuts, with about 1 in 10 an empty shell. I’ve nearly finished a 4 lb. bag so I have sampled enough for an accurate estimate.

Everything was nice, fresh and well packaged. My only comment is that the nuts themselves are a little on the small size. I would prefer probably 1 to 1.5 times larger nuts, but they are fresh have the proper oiliness… there is nothing as bad as nuts that are old and dry, which these are not!

These nuts are the smallest hazelnuts I’ve ever purchased. I feed many squirrels and with these nuts have to feed them three times the usual number bc most of these nuts are the size of a large green pea! These are
cheaper but you’re paying for all the shells and not the hazelnut itself. Waited almost one month for their arrival, too!

So disappointed as I really want to support independent growers, but the nuts are smallest–by far–that I’ve ever purchased and shell discolored (stored too long or dry–can’t tell which). Even feeding property’s squirrels, I seek large, natural, healthy-looking nuts; and can’t recommend this product at this time; but I’ll purchase again in the future in hopes it was just this year’s crop.

I love hazelnuts and used to eat them a lot. I decided to get a big bag and got these. They’re so small they break into tiny pieces when you crack them open. Chomped down on a shell more than once and I’m glad I have strong teeth. I just finished the bag and started some other hazelnuts I bought from the store, and holy cow! Now I realize how bad quality these are. The grocery store nuts are larger, sweeter, and less dry. These are just sad little bitter hazelnuts. Terrible.
