They were terrible! I should’ve read the reviews but I was so happy to see chestnuts. I grew up eating chestnuts in NY for years. Moving south, there aren’t any. When I opened them, they had a very terrible chemical smell which then ruined the taste of the chestnuts. Out of 5 lbs, 1/2 were moldy. Waste of money and very disappointed.

I bought this for thanksgiving and well over half were rotten. Truly disappointed. I have made chestnuts for years at the holiday and may have gotten one or two that were not good but never the majority of the batch.

The chestnuts were delivered promptly, important since these are a perishable item. The outside of the package was labeled to indicate a perishable item and included seller’s telephone number to report spoilage. Chestnuts were fresh.

Even though I read many methods to easily remove the shells, they absolutely would NOT remove for me. I threw them away and ordered the roasted and peeled ones! Great decision for me! Sorry.

I’ve had plenty of chestnuts growing up as a child in Western PA. You occasionally get a bad one from picking them off the ground or sellers that don’t care. I don’t know what to say other than these were the worst food product I have ever had. Most of them were moldy inside, extremely dried out and rotten. I tried to eat a few, but they made me sick. Amazon should seriously ban this seller.
