It tastes excellent. It arrived quickly. It works in coffee and in cooking.

As a butter lover the idea of reconstituting this into butter and spreading on top of bread or baked potato is almost offensive. But I love having Judee’s butter powder in my pantry for moments I don’t have or don’t want to use real butter for mashed potatoes or midnight microwave mug cakes. The quality and taste of the butter is quite mediocre, so it works best mixed in baked good for me, it adds a nice moistness.

I tried just for the experiment to reconstitute butter… the taste is milky and creamy, OK, but not something I would describe as tasty. I would take it for a long backpacking trip.

The powder in itself is quite salty, so you have to adjust recipes to account for that.

The packaging Judee’s brand has for it’s powder products annoys me greatly; the zip closure doesn’t seal weal and most times breaks after a couple of uses. I’ve learned my lesson by now and always transfer the products in a separate container.

I ordered this as an easy way to flavor to popcorn. Unfortunately, the flavor just isn’t what I expected. Namely, a salted butter flavor. Instead, I’d describe the flavor as a (very) bland sweet butter.
I’ll give it to my daughter-in-law to see if she can use it for baking.

This butter powder does not taste like real butter. But it is good, and if you need a shelf stable, non-perishable spread that is similar to butter in many ways, this will work for you. It tastes creamy and salty and natural. It does not melt like real butter, so you really cannot saute with it very well, nor can you melt it like real butter and expect to pour it over popcorn. I did taste test it as a powder sprinkled on popcorn and it was NOT satisfying. I had to use a lot of it to even taste it on the popcorn and it did not taste like buttered popcorn. But, I have used it in bread baking, dessert recipes, and casserole recipes and it works perfectly for that. I like to reconstitute it into a butter spread first before I use it in a recipe. I feel that it will give a better result that way. I have used it as a butter like spread on fresh homemade bread, and it does impart a good flavor, however I would caution you to use it sparingly as a spread otherwise it will overpower the flavor of what you are spreading it on. My only criticism, really is that it is overly salty. I will definitely continue to buy this butter powder because it is a viable shelf-stable alternative. Keep in mind that it is considerably more expensive than real butter, but you are paying for the convenience of this type of product. Of note– there are no preservatives in the ingredients list, which I like. However, it has nonfat milk solids in it, which I believe may mask the flavor of the sweet cream solids somewhat and may contribute to the fact that this does not taste exactly like real butter.

This powdered butter is delicious and easy to use. I put in shaker and it allows me a scant shake with loads of fresh buttery task and minimal calories. Highly recommend product and seller.
