I hope this email finds you well! I wanted to share my thoughts on the compostable bags I recently purchased. I know we’ve been discussing eco-friendly alternatives, so I thought you might be interested in hearing about my experience with these bags.

First off, let me start by saying that I was really excited to try out these compostable bags. I’ve been making an effort to reduce my environmental footprint, and finding sustainable options for everyday items is a big part of that. These bags seemed like a great solution for reducing plastic waste, so I decided to give them a go.

The first thing I noticed about these bags is that they are made from plant-based materials, which is a huge plus. They are completely free of any harmful chemicals or toxins, which gives me peace of mind knowing that they won’t harm the environment when they break down. Plus, they are certified as compostable, so I can be confident that they will break down properly in a composting facility.

In terms of durability, I was pleasantly surprised. These bags are just as sturdy as traditional plastic bags, which is impressive considering they are made from plant-based materials. I’ve used them for carrying groceries, storing food in the fridge, and even for picking up after my dog during walks. They haven’t torn or leaked on me yet, which is a huge win in my book.

One thing I did notice, though, is that these bags have a slightly different texture compared to regular plastic bags. They feel a bit more “crinkly” and less smooth, but it’s a minor difference that doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, it’s a small price to pay for the environmental benefits they provide.

Another thing worth mentioning is the price. These compostable bags do tend to be slightly more expensive than regular plastic bags. However, I believe the additional cost is justified considering the positive impact they have on the environment. Plus, I’ve found that I can reuse these bags multiple times before they start to show signs of wear and tear, so they actually end up being more cost-effective in the long run.

Overall, I am extremely happy with my decision to switch to compostable bags. They are a convenient and eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic bags, and I feel good knowing that I am taking a small step towards reducing plastic waste. I ordered these in August of 2023 . The first couple of times I used them the were fine , but by the third bag they were shredding each time I took one off the roll . I have had to use up to 4 gags ( one inside of the other ) to even make any use of them ! I have since ordered a different brand , that works .

We have ordered these a few times and had great luck. This latest box I have to be extra carful opening the bag as it seems to want to rip. They are still usable but don’t seem as great as before.

We separate out our recyclables from our trash and food waste at my apartment complex. I wanted to have an alternative to plastic, but one major issue with these bags is that they fall apart and tear easily. Even if you handle them with care, they can split open. I ended up using 4 bags to contain the contents of one bag that kept splitting and the other 3 bags fell apart before I even got them to the refuse bin. They seem to get worse the further I get down the roll. At this point they’re unusable. I have compostable pet waste bags that are much stronger, so I will be looking for an alternative to these bags.

We wanted to reduce our plastic use by switching to these from the Costco liners we’ve been buying. We figured the compostable liners would be flimsier, but would compost and break down more easily in the landfill which IMO was a useful trade off. We still wanted the liners to keep out trash bins relatively clean.

As the majority of the rolls came to us with what looked to be damage from box cutters, resulting in vertical slits in the bags before we even tried to line our cans with them, these were less useful to us than we hoped. They also tear TOO easily to be useful as liners. These issues, combined with ZERO response from the seller when we tried to contact them about the damage, and the fact these are 2x the cost/bag when compared to the Costco liners, means we cannot recommend the product, and we will not buy them again. Going back to the Costco liners as soon as we run out of these. It is a shame as we would like to limit our env. impact, but this product will not be part of that plan.
