This box comes with a lot of fun and yummy noodles! It was very nicely packaged and included everything you could need. They all tasted pretty good but I adjusted the seasoning to my liking. My favorite was the tteobokki, the texture and flavor was absolutely delicious and it was super easy to make along with the other ramen as well. The hot sauce it included is perfect to add on your noodles for an extra kick and it’s nice to have that to add to whatever else you want to.

Haven’t tried all of them yet but they are pretty good and I enjoy them.

Fun to try but I didn’t receive the sauce and the one fortune cookie was broken 🙁

Verdict: I like the flavors a lot 🙂 I think I’ll have to get more of the cheese one! It was super spicy, though. You have to REALLY love spicy stuff 🙂
I boiled the noodles according to the package and only added 1/2 of the spice packet and they were as spicy as “medium” is at an Indian restaurant! My nose was running and my mouth was burning, but I liked it! The texture of the noodles is good, not too soft and not too hard. They are a bit on the creamy side and I really liked them.
Quattro Cheese Buldak: Super spicy! Creamy cheesy! I put it six Tablespoons of water, but the sauce was a bit runny for me. The noodles did suck up a lot of those six tablespoons (but they didn’t get waterlogged! Nice!), but I’d try three or four first and add more water if I think I need it next time. I only used half a packet of sauce but I did use all the cheese powder The “Best By” date for this one is January 11th, 2025.
Kimchi Buldak: It’s sweet and spicy. I didn’t expect the sweetness and I like the flavor. The heat appeared to be slower that the cheese one, but I’m drinking milk with this to neutralize the spice. My mouth has been on fire the whole time, but somehow I really like this one, too. I do like the cheese one better, though. The “Best By” date on this package is November 20, 2024.
P.S. I added the napa cabbge, carrots and shiitake mushrooms. They don’t come with the set.
4/02/24 Update: Tteokbokki: Rice Cakes in Cheese Sauce
The flavor is like a sweet mac and cheese. It’s really cheesy but not very creamy. The texture of the rice cakes is chewy. It’s chewier than Japanese mochi and not stretchy. This one is barely spicy. The difference in spice levels really surprised me, though. I was bracing for my mouth to go on fire, but it didn’t 🙂 I liked it a lot.

All the flavors were awesome. No torn packages and only repeated 2 flavors. But those were the best!

On the whole, I’m happy with this and I’m excited to eat all these goodies. These are things that I’ve had before so I already know that I’m going to enjoy them. For me, the price is kind of silly because I live in an area where every item in this box is readily available and I could buy everything separately and pay way less. None of these are particularly obscure; these are some of the most popular and ubiquitous items. But I’m aware that there are people who may not have the easy access to things like this that I do here on the West Coast (although that’s pretty hard to imagine these days) so for those folks this price might make more sense.
I am disappointed and surprised that there was so much damage in the box. It was shipped in a sturdy box inside another sturdy box and it was completely intact when I opened it so I have to imagine that the damage occurred before the box was packed. Some of the bags of ramen are crushed a little and the fortune cookies are just completely obliterated. They’re still edible but it’s a bummer, especially at this price.

If you haven’t tried Buldak ramen, it’s fantastic. Not your 3 for $1 cheap ramen from your local store. These noodles actually taste great–give them a try. This set seems a bit pricy for what’s included, but the variety is nice. It’s also nice that you get to choose what’s in your box as opposed to some of the other “monthly” boxes that are random. As much as I like the mystery, when you’re paying this much you want to be sure it’s something you’ll like.
I’ve never tried the Samyang Hot Sauce, but it’s one of my new favorites. I love spicy food, but this stuff is like fire. Almost too hot to enjoy, but not quite. A little goes a long way and this bottle will far outlast the ramen and tteobokki included in the box.

not much variety pretty much just regular ramen

This Foodie Boxx was a lot of fun to try. Buldak makes very flavorful ramen. The noodles are a little thicker than the basic ramen you get in the stores. The sauce packets are super spicy. I only use a few drops, and it’s still spicy enough to make my nose run. You can also totally omit the sauce and use the just the powder, which has flavoring but is mild. This was my first time making Tteobokki, and I was a little unsure if I had the texture right but they have a nice chewiness and the cheese sauce tastes sweet. It compliments the ramen nicely.
Looking at the listing and the other reviews, it looks like the selection of three ramen packs may vary rather than be exactly as pictured. I got Stew Type (see photo), Cheese and Jjajang. That last one is a Korean black bean sauce, which will be new to me. Not sure if I’ll like it as well as the carbonara I was expecting, but I’ll update when I have a chance to make it.
The one pair of chopsticks and two fortune cookies don’t add much value to this sampler. The cookies were not in one piece. And, one pair of chopsticks wouldn’t be enough if you wanted to cook for more than one person. I think this could be a better value if this included another pack of ramen or another food instead. I think the presentaton could be a little nicer too — it’s just a pretty plain box as shown in the listing photo. But, it’s still a fun gift set for spicy food lovers.
