I was surprised by the quality of the basket. I had never heard of Golden State Fruit so wasn’t sure what was being sent. I took the plunge and was happily surprised. I gave this as a gift and the recipient was thrilled. There was a huge variety of fruit which was fresh and plentiful (be sure to dig down to find things) as well as cheese and crackers. As far as I can tell, the basket was exactly as pictured My friend said it was one of the nicest she has ever received. I would not pay extra for a fancy ribbon, though. The basket was enough – if you need to say something, include a card.

Gift: I sent this to my son and his girlfriend. A great pick-me-up surprise for after mid-term exams & just in time for Saint Valentine’s Day! This is the second type basket I have sent them from this company! My son said the mango was so good & that all the other goodies were perfect! They even get good use out of the basket. I have also for myself ordered the dry fruit large tray combination with nuts-great fresh and tasty! I no doubt will order again! It’s better than sending flowers for the right occasion and person. The delivery was super fast! Delivery was free! I did not expect they would get it on Valentine’s Day: but, they received it a day before the estimated time frame so kudos to GOLDEN STATE FRUIT & UPS. You made this mom happy!

The worst! I ordered before Christmas came after a week in transit- the fruit was not great – 6 small pears were soft, the one mango was soft, the 2 apples had brown spots… I complained and they offered a free replacement – fine! They said it would take a week – I checked they said five days… I gout this morning the box has been in my driveway for 3 or 4 days which I didn’t know because it was supposed to arrive today!!!! The whole basket is frozen! And I can’t contact the company to complain because my order was more than 30 days which I doubt because I purchased the werk before Christmas – three werks… and all the fruit had stickers like you would find from cub or Walmart! Don’t choose this company!!!! The only thing good was the soft mango- the flavor was great but it was soft!

Everything about this is on-balance “good-not-great”. Overall, I think it’s a reasonable value in the “fruit basket market” and I will be using it for business gifts this year.

– Though it should be packed for protection, and gift presentation is part of the product, there is still excessive stuffing in my opinion.
– The bosc pear still had a fruit sticker on it. I want better in a “premium” purchase.
– The basket had a made-in-china sticker
– a couple of the green pears and mandarins were not visually perfect. (tasted good though)
– I received chocolate covered fruit/nuts rather than chocolate-covered caramels.

Yeah, you could go to a specialty grocery store and get all the fruit (maybe in california, not in Illinois!), go get yourself some gourmet candy and crackers, then go to a craft store and get a basket and stuffing and ribbon, go to a target and get an ice pack, and then pack and ship it yourself for a total of about 70% of the cost. If you have the time to do that…go for it! That’s not the point. This is intended to be a gift with a pleasant presentation. The convenience of having the company (golden state fruit) assemble the gift, pack, ship, etc is worth it to me.

We got this as a thank you gift for a lady that has been giving our daughter horse riding lessons. It arrived quickly, and everything looked great! She loved it!

The recipient said the basket was wonderful, fruit nice and clean, shiney and no bruising or flaws, the rest of the gift basket was extra nice. The only problem with the delivery is the gift card I filled out for the recipient was not included and she had to trace who sent the gift. Other than that I still gave it a 5 star rating because of the quality and generous portions shipped.

This was a gift. It arrived even earlier than expected which was so very appreciated. The recipient was thrilled. The fruit was beautiful and well protected for shipping. They sent me a picture that looks very much like the ad picture. We’re all pleased with this experience and I would absolutely order this again.

In ordering this basket for a friend’s birthday, I was careful to ensure it would arrive the day of her birthday. Not before and not after. As she is a working woman, I thought it important she be home when the basket arrived. I ensured at purchase it would arrive July 26th, her birthday. However, when the basket was shipped, I received the notice that it would be delivered the day after her birthday. By then it was too late to make another purchase. As the temperature where she lives was averaging high 90s the fact that the basket sat all day on her porch didn’t make me very happy. As to the basket’s contents, typical fruit and assorted cheese, crackers and other snacks. She did say the fruit was ripe and quite good but most of the snacks are things that she couldn’t/wouldn’t eat. And a couple of the pears were too ripe due to perhaps the heat of the day. It occurs to me that perhaps someone could certainly correct these gift basket issues if they would only allow the customer to actually build the basket item by item themselves. Then we could ensure the recipient is completely pleased by the gift.
