Both tomatoes came in great shape and were fresh! I was very lucky in comparison to some of the other reviews. But I will err on the side of caution, since these maybe a 50/50 chance of being good or bad.
I took a “leap of faith” and was very pleased with the outcome, but I do live in the State of Minnesota where grocery stores here do keep produce in better conditions, so that might play a key part in how fresh it is. But even then, understand what is in season and what is not.

Since it’s not the season for tomatoes yet, these beefsteaks were good but didn’t have the summer taste we’ll get soon. They did the job though & tasted good on the sandwiches. They were fresh without any bruising or marking at all so I was very pleased. I didn’t expect to get a farm stand taste from a greenhouse tomato but these were fine.

I guess I am a tomato snob. My father-in-law raised THE BEST tomatoes, a very close second only to the Jersey tomatoes I grew up eating. Sadly, no supermarket tomatoes are ever as good. That said, these Beefsteaks aren’t too bad. I keep them in the fridge in the clamshell they come packed in and even after taking a slice or two, I store them cut side up in the clam shell & they keep quite nicely. They are designated Beefsteak but are low acid, very similar to the low acid Ace tomato. Because I love tomatoes & these keep so well without over ripening, I will continue to buy these Beefsteaks.
