This item works to open letters but it is much smaller than I thought. I’m not sure why it says ceramic on the top of it. It is made of plastic with a blade inside. Perhaps it is my own fault , but I assumed you could set it on a desk and run the letters over it. Unfortunately you have to use both hands; one to hold the opener and one to slide the envelope. It is designed to cut through one side of the envelope and leaves the opposite side in tack, which is nice that it doesn’t create a separate piece of paper.

I really needed a good opener because I had a tremendous amount of mail from my fathers house. This works great! If only I hadn’t lost it since it’s so tiny.

The letter opener seems made to be a pocket gadget, but for me, as a hand-held device, it did not work well this way. Instead, I’ve used double-stick foam mounting tape to mount it to a cabinet, and in this manner it works superpbly. It slices through one layer of paper, right at the edge of the envelope, so there is no scrap of paper to throw away. I hold the envelope corners in two hands, slightly stretched apart, and zip-feed one end of the envelope through the opener, as it does its slick little slicing trick.

Very nice design which doesn’t get snagged like other letter openers I’ve used. This is my go-to letter opener UNLESS I can’t feel where the top edge of the contents is. Normally the contents don’t reach quite to the top of the letter, but if they do this will cut right into them.

Easy and fast! Works like a charm! Best part is, no need to worry about cutting myself accidentally while trying to find things in my purse, cause the blade is hidden inside and covered. Wish they can make with metal or materials other then plastic. 10/10

I did not know that I had been opening letters like a cave-man for most of my life. I found myself with a mountain of envelopes to be opened while back and only a knife or finger to open them with.
On a whim I entered “letter opener” into Amazon and here popped up this little gem of a device. Just slide it along the edge and it slices one side of the envelope less than 1/10th of an inch from the edge. I have yet to inadvertently slice the contents, as can occasionally happen with one of those ancient “20th century” letter openers. Cool.

It’s small, seems sharp and does a good job of opening most envelopes. But you have to make sure you tamp down the contents before attempting to open or the opener will jam and/or slash the contents of the envelope. I also wish it had a way to attaching it to a surface, like a suction cup. That way you could draw the envelope across the opener instead of holding the opener and drawing it across the envelope. In any case, these are small gripes and as long as it keeps doing it’s job, I’ll be happy with it.

I have a couple of these and they are favorite little gift for friends. Cute and delightful to use.
