My dentist told me, How toxic fluoride actually is for us, so I switch to nanohydroxyapatite! I have tried the coconut ginger, the watermelon mint, and the lemon. They are amazing!!!! If you or your child has sensory issues and hates mint toothpaste, these are definitely the go-tos, the watermelon mint has very little mint but just enough to be refreshing, and leave your mouth feeling clean. The coconut ginger and lemon are also great!!! They’re all great even if you don’t have sensory issues but even better for people who have sensory issues

i’m not a child, i am 32. i’ll add why i tried this out at the end if you’re curious. if not, just accept me as i am and be comforted by the fact that my review will probably be reliable.
so first i want to say the packaging is very good. i like the color. the tube feels soft in the hand. it was a breeze to open – just a foil seal to peel off under the cap – and the hinged cap opens and closes easily. so i think this would be really easy for a kid with little clumsy hands to use.
(UPDATE: the hinge part of the cap broke. it hasn’t come clean off yet, and it still clicks shut and seals closed as it’s supposed to. but i figured i would be transparent about the hinge part of the cap. that’s called ethical journalism.)
second, taste is good. i was suspicious – i’ve never used a flavored toothpaste. i got the watermelon kind, and it genuinely tastes exactly like watermelon gum. if you’ve got a kid who hates the taste of toothpaste, i absolutely recommend this. i don’t think there’s any artificial coloring either.
third, texture is good. it’s smooth, not too goopy and not gritty like some whitening toothpastes are. it also doesn’t linger in the mouth – it foams up enough to brush your teeth, but it doesn’t hang out there like a regular toothpaste. the packaging claims you don’t have to spit, you can swallow. so if you’ve got a kid with sensory issues and/or a kid who has a rough time with rinsing and spitting, i think this would be a good try. now your only issue is getting them to floss.
i’ll come back and update if at my next dentist appointment she tells me all my teeth are rotted, on fire, and engaged in a life of crime and demands if i’ve been using a flavored children’s toothpaste. but for the time being this seems like a pretty good product!
i tried this because i had read a little bit about hydroxyapatite. i didn’t want to spend money on a serum treatment kit or something if i subsequently found out it’s bunk like charcoal and baking soda (those are abrasive to your teeth – don’t use charcoal toothpaste or brush with baking soda). so i thought it would be fun to spend just a couple bucks and try a flavored toothpaste for the first time even though i’m not a child.
i did not get it because it’s fluoride free, as i am not allergic to fluoride, which is the only reason you should be using a fluoride free product. (fluoride has been scientifically proven to aid in the prevention of tooth decay. like all things, in normal amounts it’s safe for you. any staining on the teeth from excessive fluoride will go away if you brush regularly. it is not a poison – this is fearmongering. let fluoride take care of you.) i only use this in the morning. at night i use a normal toothpaste with fluoride. it’s okay to use both nanohydroxyapatite and fluoride.
i care about dental care! make sure you’re flossing!

Great toothpaste for rebuilding enamel. Have used it for years. Our children love the taste! This new flavor is great! Thank you for making a safe toothpaste that really works!

So, the initial bottling of this was called “space paste” in packaging like the other flavors (white with an orange stripe).
I fell in love!! I generally love Boka flavors. Delicious. I’ve tried them all. My dentist sings it’s praises and considers the cavity protection stuff excellent and better than fluoride and cited studies. My teeth are shiny and smooth. I’ve been using boka for years now.
This flavor was like candy. I had to resist the temptation every night to swallow it all. But this new tube tastes overwhelmingly like stevia and chemicals. The ingredients are the same. Company says formula didn’t change but it could be the batch. Further proving the batch issue theory, one of my new style bottles tastes better than the other (both ordered in October). Problem is I got one tube of this new bottle directly from boka and one of this new one from Amazon (long story) and I dont know which.
The other thing is that the xylotil is really a star in this. It’s a great sweetness flavor and great for the teeth/mouth/gums moisture, etc. But there must be less in my batches or something or in the new bottles. It’s less sweet and leave my tongue weirdly tingling with gross taste.
I really hope this was just a batch issue. I’ll be tossing the worst one because it’s so bad.

I had a tooth that was starting to hurt with cold exposure. Two weeks after starting to use this toothpaste and that tooth barely hurts at all now! The flavor is great and I love that it doesn’t have flouride.

I mainly got this for my super picky autistic son. He used to only use Tom’s Orange Mango toothpaste but that had fluoride. I recently discovered from a dentist that there is an ingredient in most toothpastes (sodium lauryl sulfate) that contributes to canker sores in the mouth. My son would get painful, large canker sores pretty often and there is really no treatment for them except waiting for them to heal on their own. In the meantime he would be miserable and sometimes refuse to eat because they were so painful. Luckily, this Boca toothpaste does not have the ingredient and it has cut back on his canker sores significantly. That alone makes this toothpaste worth the price for us. I also worry about cavities as he has to be put under general anesthesia just to get a cavity filled. My son takes after me and has ‘soft teeth’ that gets cavities easily. He has been using Boca for the past 6 months and his last check up was great with no recent cavity formation. I also love that he is able to swallow this toothpaste with no issues. He does not spit after brushing and I had to use a very small amount of the Tom’s toothpaste because of that. I can now put a decent amount of toothpaste on his toothbrush without worries. The only issue I have is that the toothpaste says it whitens teeth but I have not seen that with my son. The other benefits he has obtained outweigh this small issue. I agree with others that the cap could use some work. I can’t close it completely no matter how hard I press on it. This tends to dry out the toothpaste at the opening of the cap and it gets clumpy. I hope the company looks into fixing the cap issue.

Great toothpaste for my child and myself. Tastes yummy. The top is very hard to open.

I got this to replace Act brand watermelon toothpaste for my 7yo twins. They had been using the Act for a couple of years and did not like other brands of traditional kiddie toothpaste. I wanted to get away from fluoride and use the hydroxyapatite for building stronger teeth. We are almost through this first bottle.
First, the girls did notice the slightly different taste, including the hint of mint, but had no complaints about it being “yucky” or too hot or burning, like some mints can. The most they said was it tasted differently than the Act.
Secondly, and this was a huge surprise for me. They often had horrible morning breath on their old toothpaste, which I had thought was due to the Act flouride rinse, but I still noticed it when we quit the rinse. Within a week of using this new toothpaste, I realized they weren’t having morning breath any more. I thought it might be a fluke so I began paying close attention in the mornings when they’d first gotten up and sure enough, no bad breath!
I can’t wait for their next dental appointment to see how they do, both girls had a couple of small watch spots on their teeth.
Absolutely will purchase again.

I’ll admit, I have a problem with not brushing for as long as you’re supposed to. I have nothing against mint but I could never last as long as you’re supposed to (what is it, 1-2 minutes?). I started looking into flavored toothpastes and I’ve been using BOKA’s products for over a year now so I was excited to see they added other flavors to their collection. The cranberry one was okay but THIS magical orange creamsicle flavor popped up so I decided to try it and OMG – the flavor just stays with you while you brush and it tastes so good!
Also I felt mildly offended when I saw this was apparently for kids but let’s be real – kids always get the best stuff haha

Why have I never tried this before? I broke out with perioral dermatitis from stress and was told not to use fluoride toothpaste. This stuff is awesome! You can even eat after it so there’s no mint to impede your tasting. Bonus!
I have ADHD and brain fog from recent years has made it worse and added depression into the mix – I never realized my struggle to brush my teeth had something to do with the mint in toothpaste – apparently I have an aversion to minty toothpaste but not minty gum? weird. Anyway – I no longer have to have an app TELL ME to brush my teeth – I’m back at my old habit of doing it without thinking and the best part is I can do it later in the day if I get distracted in the morning and it won’t matter if lunch is in 15 minutes because the food won’t taste weird from brushing.
The only complaint I have is it’s a big hard to open the cap – some days it just doesn’t want to pop open easily. It’s not the biggest issue, and might just be this tube and not others, but it’ll make you put things down to do it two-handed sometimes.
Also – side note – I’ve always had genetically good teeth, and they’re pretty white naturally, but wow since I’ve used this the last few weeks I’ve had two people exclaim at how white my teeth were – are they gleaming? I can’t tell a difference but it’s worth noting – guess the whitening element is working well!
