I am a professional home barista using a La Marzocco GS3 manual paddle machine. I have been searching for a milk alternative. The Oat based barista blends are okay, not great in terms of taste. Califa Oat based barista blend has a much more neutral flavor and better stretching capability that the almond barista blend. The almond blend had a very strong overwhelming almond flavor and was too sweet (cane sugar added). It was difficult to appreciate the excellent espresso blend as it was hidden behind the strong almond. I use almond milk daily for cereal, so almond flavor isn’t a problem, but it should not be so strong as to remove any hint of the coffee in the cappuccino.

This is perfectly fine as almond milk, but I have no idea why it is labelled as “barista blend.” It doesn’t froth at all, I mean even less than regular almond milk. I’ve use barista blend almond milk in Australia that froths just like real milk. I think they should give them a call and find out how it’s done.

This is not bad! I was expecting to not like the whole almond milk idea, as I do not like rice milk, soy milk or any other milk substitute , but i have to give it to Califa! It goes great in coffee, gives smoothies that 50/ 50 bar- orangesicle popsicle flavor from when i was a kid and loved so much if you add the Califa Almond milk and some orange sherbet ice cream, it was a big hit at my house!
The true reason why I tried this is because my son is a little milk intolerant and dosent like the rice, soy or dairy free milk so we decided to give almond a try. I’ve had other Califa items so i decided to stay with the brand i knew, great choice! My 11 year old drinks this instead of milk and he is so happy to finally find a substitute that he really likes and doesn’t make him sick. He can have cereal or a glass of “chocolate milk”, milk and cookies and enjoy it again. We both love the nutty flavor. They nailed the consistency of it, not too thick, not too thin. I still have to try to scramble some eggs with it but its great for everything else so far!

Upon arrival, I was pleased that the packaging was intact and my order was correct! The product was securely sealed and easy to open. I was able to easily locate the expiration date and was happy it was not expired. When I first opened it and tried it, I was impressed with the smooth texture and sweet taste. The texture and taste remained the same after using and refrigerating it several days. As a plant-based eater, I would definitely buy this again because it is even dairy and gluten free! The product was pricier that I expected. I hope if I order it in the future it will be available at a lower price.
