As our city is now requiring us to compost our food waste, I bought this to store my food scraps before dumping into my outside organics recycling bin. So far, the charcoal filter in the lid has absorbed odors. I specifically bought this size so it would fit on my counter in the right spot. It fits well on the counter but for us, it gets full pretty quickly. That’s on us though, not the bin! I would definitely recommend this compost bin. And it looks nice too.

Nice looking when new. Nice size for my kitchen counter by my sink. Black plastic liner chipped near the metal handle and then the liner handle wouldn’t stay in after 2.5 years use. So, I had to carry the entire unit outside to dump contents into my outdoor compost pile. That extra transporting & setting down outdoors while I turned my compost pile chipped the bottom of the main bin. I’m buying a new one today (Jan 1, 2024), bc this one just looks bad. Would be nice if the bottom had a rubber or silicone protector and the plastic liner was better designed. Original one purchased May, 2021

This is perfect! Luv the removable plastic bin with handle — makes it easy to empty. The removable bin is easily hand washable too.
Sooo much better than the other counter compost bins I’ve seen that don’t have that or say you need to put plastic bags as inserts. Even if you use biodegradable ones, let’s be real, you’re creating more trash and totally missing the point of composting.
And the charcoal filter really works— no stink!
Definitely recommend this product.

My husband and I bought a small barrel composter for the backyard about a year ago for our household of 2 and had been putting our kitchen scraps in a Rubbermaid container on the kitchen counter for easy transport outside. It didn’t have a lid and it looked terrible, so when I came across this composting container I was really excited. The negative reviews concerned me but we’d been keeping kitchen scraps on the counter for the last year without bug issues so it made me think those reviewers were using it to actually compost their scraps, not as a holder to transport them outside. For anyone reading this review, this is not meant to actually compost your scraps on your kitchen counter. It’s just meant as a pretty scrap collector. You still need an outdoor composter. We’ve been using it for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. It looks great, it’s super easy to transport outside and empty, the filter blocks any smell, and we’ve had zero fruit flies from the banana peels we’ve put in there (we eat a lot of bananas). The only thing, and this is a me thing, is that since it’s not an open clear container, I forget to empty it as often and the scraps start to mold. Gross, I know lol. But the container washes out great with soap and water once I do empty it. I’m very happy with our purchase and highly recommend it to anyone who composts and needs an attractive countertop scrap container.

Large, easy to wash, good filter.

Nice little composter. Perfect for counter top and easy to empty. Sturdy enough for its size and no smell.

Out of the box looks attractive, and country charming. I like the overall look, and it seems to have a good fitting lid. I also bought the filters I imagine it is just better with it. I originally purchased this as part of a garden themed christmas gift, but have decided to wait to give it for Moms day. Since this hasnt been used, I am going with early impression of 4 stars.

If you’re looking for a chic farmhouse-style compost bin that you can put on the counter AND keep the bags that you use to line your bin hidden, this is for you. I believe this may only be the case for the 1 gallon bin with the side handles. The pail sits inside of the bin rather than flush with it, so there is room to wrap the bag around the outside of the pail and hide it all in the bucket. I generally save the plastic produce bags that I use from the grocery store and reuse those to line it with, and they fit perfectly. I also have another small compost bin (I was using it before getting this one), but that one is underneath the sink since the bags wrapped around the side made it unsightly for the counter. This one collects our coffee grounds next to the coffee maker and looks great.

We are avid composters but hated having a big ugly bucket or bowl with smelly compost on the kitchen counter. This is very cute, well made, just the right size for 2-3 days of compost scraps. I line the inner bucket with the plastic veg bags from grocery store, it keeps the inside nice and clean. I remove the bag, dump scraps in compost and toss out the bag. I’m going to look into compostable bags. I highly recommend it. I got the dish & hand dispenser bottles with bamboo tray to compliment it, love them too!

A lot of the hanging ones had bad reviews. I really didn’t want something sitting on my counter but…. I love it. It is right next to the sink. It is nice to look at and no smell whatsoever. I empty it about once a week. I think I am going to ask for a composter for my birthday. Thats how much I love this little can! I am on septic so we can’t put anything down our drains. This makes life so much easier!
