Cured squid fillet strips. Squid meat is a source of valuable substances. Squid contains iodine, selenium, phosphorus, iron, copper. Like most seafood, it contains Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. These molluscs and vitamins B, C, E, PP vitamins are very few. But the main value, perhaps, is a large amount of protein, which is almost completely absorbed by the body. “Hobby of Kings” snacks are made naturally, so all useful substances remain.

I need to preface by saying it is not giant squid as english speakers know it – giant squid is inedible due to its high ammonia content. It is instead Humboldt / jumbo squid. This may just be a mistranslation as this is a product of Lithuania, the correct latin name is listed directly in the ingredients list as Dosidicus gigas. The only two ingredients are salt and jumbo squid. The smell is definitely very strong, so much so that my cat would not leave me alone while I was trying this. It smells just like the ocean, fishy and salty. The products packaging is accurate but the filets look quite different and are encrusted with salt (see photo). This squid was caught in Peru. As for flavor and texture I liked how chewy it was, strips were a good size. I definitely like squid and octopus, I’ve had them before, but I wasnt the most taken with this product. It doesnt taste as strong as it smells but the salt is a bit overwhelming. I probably wouldnt get this again unfortunately.

When I first opened the bag I almost didn’t want to try it due to the smell. The individual pieces don’t seem to smell like anything, but the whiff I got after opening the bag was not inviting at all.
The taste of the squid is okay, but just okay.
This is a product of Peru with a ten month shelf life, or shall I say 10 months from the day I received this.
Anyway, the snack I received is in a bag that matches the image in the description on the listing, but the squid strips in my bag do not look as in the image. They are less wide and less smooth. I’m really on the fence about this snack.

Definitely has squid flavor, like hauled onto the fishing boat, cured and dried immediately flavor. Extremely salty, but other than the squid no other seasoning to speak of.
Nutritional information is unreadable as it’s in several non-English languages but I don’t doubt it has protein. I could see someone valuing this who’s on a keto or other high-protein diet torturing their teeth and jaws chowing down on this, but I found it just nasty, and with a leathery, very chewy texture, not at all crispy as stated.
