We have a split level staircase and did not want to mount anything to wall. This works great for our little dog to stay away from the steps. However, the lock is hard to use.

We purchased this product in 2021 and loved it, so when we needed a new baby gate in 2024, I ordered this without thinking twice.
Sometime between 2021 and now, Evenflo changed the profile of the plastic fencing, and the new design is dangerous to children. The old model had wide profile fencing with rounded edges, the new design has a much thinner profile, where the edges of the fencing come to sharp edges.
I recently discovered this change when my 8 month old daughter was standing against the baby gate with her fingers through the fence and fell, as she has done countless other times on the 2021 gate. However, this time she was standing against the 2024 gate, and the new profile fence skinned the sides of her fingers, causing a decent cut and a good amount of blood.
If you are looking to use this baby gate to keep pets who cannot reach into the fencing contained in an area of the house, or want your children to fear the barricade, this is the fence for you. It will work quite well, in the same way that stringing up barbed wire would keep a child contained to an area.

I have bought several gates. Most of them either destroy my walls or don’t have enough resistance. These are great, you can adjust the resistance and they don’t destroy my walls. In a house with three boys and two dogs, they only last about a year before someone trips over it cracking the wood.

It is a very cheap gate. The first one I had broke when I tried to close it. I had it replaced and the second one is the same however I didn’t break it this time. It’s a bit difficult to use the thing to keep it closed, and it’s pretty flimsy, but works for what I need it for. I really don’t think I recommend this product, especially if you’re going to be using it around children. Pay a little more for a gate with substance that is safer.

Lightweight, easy to lock and unlock. Bought to alert dog to not go upstairs. It is not a strong gate, can easily be pushed down by aggressive dog or anxious toddler. Will not hold to contain dog but served my purpose, as dog does not push, sees boundary and backs off. Would not recommend to use for children.

The clip used to open and close this gate is one of the worst options any design team could’ve selected. It’s flimsy and difficult to use BUT if you don’t mind fidgeting with it, it will do the job. The gate feels like it could be on the flimsier side but if you just need it to block an area it will get the job done.
Looks nice and is low price so can only complain about the design team seeming to have never used a baby gate before and the quality team having not tested it. Lmao

No sure why the product was here in town for a week before they could deliver it and when they did the top and bottom of the box was open. Thankfully the gate wasn’t damaged and works just fine.
