Another product from Amazon Fresh that I must buy instead of the ground beef at the grocery story. I like the way it’s ground and how it browns in the pan. Yes, there is a difference depending where you buy from. One of the biggest reasons I ONLY buy Amazon ground beef now is because of the packaging. Go ahead and laugh but it never leaks, well sealed. I also like the size and shape of the package. Easy to stack in the freezer. I think it’s a great product and I try to keep about 3 in the freezer at a time. Thanks Amazon.

Ok, this is good tasting ground beef and the 80/20 blend is great for burgers, the packaging will keep the beef fresh for longer in the fridge too.
My only problem with this ground beef is that it’s been compacted so much it’s kind of like a brick of meat! Cutting it is almost like cutting a raw steak. It’s hamburger all right, it’s just been vacuum packed with so much pressure it’s really solid. I find I have to take it out and break it up with a fork to loosen it back up before making patties. In other words, it’s not the looser, straight from a grinder, texture that you usually get at the supermarket or butcher.
Nothing wrong with it, it just takes a little extra effort to cut off a chunk, break it up and form it into a nice loose patty.

The Fresh Brand Ground Beef I ordered arrived securely vacuum sealed and as very fresh. The meat cooked up perfectly with no odd flavors and had a good texture to it. Although it’s listed as an 80%/20% blend, the meat didn’t seem greasy or oily – it was much higher quality than the cheaper ground beef I’ve purchased, and I liked how it had a clean, beefy taste. That said, I did have to drain off some of the oil when I finished cooking it, although it didn’t seem like a huge amount. If you’re looking to restock your freezer with ground beef, the beef is perfect for keeping in your freezer as it’s already securely vacuum-sealed. When you need a pack for dinner, they’re easy to take out and defrost. Overall, it’s an excellent quality ground beef that I would purchase again.

Meatloaf, hamburgers, meatballs: Put it side by side with the 5lb supermarket ‘tube o’ ground beef’ and Amazon ground beef has a better flavor. More expensive but worth it.
