My first time using fresh Thyme so I’ve nothing to compare it to other than the dry bottled stuff, but I was amazed at the difference fresh makes!
Not only is it my first time using fresh but I’ve seldom used it dried so I wasn’t sure how much to use when cooking my filet mignon. I just grabbed a handful and tossed it in the pan with the butter before putting the steak in the pan. I didn’t believe it would make much difference in flavor but oh my was I wrong. Not overpowering, just a soft and pleasant aroma, and the flavor was the same. What’s even better is that it remained fresh in the crisper for weeks.
I started to not bother with the fresh herb but was so glad I did, and will definitely be purchasing fresh from now on.
For those who cook with dried herbs I highly recommend you try fresh. I can guarantee it will be life changing!
