I was so impressed with these when they arrived. Very large, firm and healthy. I plan to plant these and grow my own; otherwise, I would certainly order more. Since it will probably get a little colder in the winter where I live that will make them happy. I plan to get several good plants started in pots and once those are successful, I may try planting a few in the ground and using heavy mulch in the winter to see of they will survive here. So excited.

Galangal does not have a long shelf life, evidently. The first batch of this galangal I received did not have any life left with it, although it was not dried out or moldy. The company generously sent me a replacement batch, which was a bit better than the first batch, but obviously was not freshly dug or cut from the roots. If you are looking for fresh galangal, it is likely that you will have to try and find it from a supplier who digs it and ships it immediately. If you are willing to have grocery store quality, similar to other roots that you purchase at a store, this will do. I consider a root such as ginger, turmeric, galangal, etc. fresh when they have enough life in them to be planted and they will propagate and grow.

The product arrived one day after ordering! The Galangal rhizomes were very large, perfectly clean, and healthy… actually they were huge. I know I paid a little more than other sellers wanted, however, I received more than I expected or imagined. Would shop this seller again in a minute. I will now try to grow healthy plants and have galangal for my Asian cooking.

They were beautiful and fresh. The taste was magnificent and the color was a nice healthy brownish/white/pink color. Not one single brown or wilted root. I received a fair amount.very big and heavy. They may have been a little pricey considering I had to order them online because we don’t grow them in the northeast.(New England). But I am satisfied and would purchase again!
