In France, this is a common item in supermarkets and quite cheaper. You can get a 500 gram (a little over a pound) package for $1.85 *equivalence. They are better there, like most everything else. They are bigger and tastier. Still, I’m glad to be able to buy these in the U.S. without having to fuss with stem, cutting and cooking. I made a salad with cut up beets, crumbled feta cheese, little pieces of apple, and a little baby spinach. It was a nice change from the usual frozen dinners. The sweetness of the beets and apples against the sour feta cheese is delicious. You could add a can of corn as well. I didn’t put any dressing. I just like the plain taste, as is. I will buy these again, but the organic ones next time. Maybe they’ll be a little closer to those in France. I put all of them in the refrigerator because they will taste better cold.

I recently discovered a love for roasted beets at my local steakhouse. I had grown up eating pickled beets in the Midwest, but had forgotten about them. Decided to go to my local grocery store and try my hand at preparing roasted beets, similar to what I had as a side dish at the steak restaurant. I was shocked to see that three small raw beets cost over three dollars! A dollar a beet…and I had to peel and boil them myself!! This was very disappointing. I started my Amazon search to try to find something that would be more reasonable. I found some really delicious pickled beets from a farm in Ohio. $15-20 a jar! It was about 4 snack servings for me. Not a good frequent expenditure. I am very happy to have found these Geffen beets. They are perfectly cooked, there are several large servings in each vacuum packed pouch. One pouch sliced completely refilled the $15 jar that I had purchased previously. I used the same pickling juice after I ate the last few bites..and will see how it flavors these -as they are unseasoned but still yummy.

I rate the quality of the beets as excellent. They are a little pricy, but it beats steaming them myself and dealing with the mess.

I not only love beets and appreciate their health benefits, I also use them occasionally to make a tomato-free marinara sauce. Sometimes I don’t have time for washing, trimming, drying, and roasting fresh organic beets. Gefen Beets arrive whole, sodium free, cooked, and vacuum packed. They taste delicious and the convenience is wonderful. Next time I’m going to buy the organic version.

I’ve never received a “bad batch” and I’m on purchase 10 or 11 now.
The sellers seem like cool people who take pride in their products.
I always store in a cool, low drawer, away from light.
These are extremely convenient. I typically:
1. Open single package; cut to slices, dice or etc..
2. Set aside amount for current use, in meal or on the side..
3. Place remainder in air-tight food-storage (rubbermaid, etc..)
4. Refrigerate remainder and use within 2 or 3 days.
I wouldn’t recommend storing the unopened product beyond use-by for sure. Their use-by date seems to be pretty accurate. I’ve never had any go bad before the use-by date.
One time, unfortunately left a package in the drawer for a month or two beyond the use-by. The oxidation and breakdown is very obvious – the deep, red color turns to brown, and the product seems to break down by “shedding” bits. If the color is the familiar deep, dark “beet red” and there is no debris, then product is probably fine – though I’d use some sense there. As I said, the seller/mfr know their product, and seem to be quite accurate, if conservative, with their use-by dates – assuming they are stored in a cool, dry place.
If product is growing hair, or fur – or if it begins moving about on it’s own – I would recommend disposing of it, or perhaps donating it to a a circus or carnival. 😉
In seriousness, I really like these – it’s an easy way to add texture, flavor, fiber, vitamins and minerals to any meal. There’s a smidge of protein as well – beets are GREAT FOOD! I occasionally add a single diced beet to a meal of brown-rice and something along the lines of, for example, “Tasty Bites” meals. These compliment a variety of flavors- they’re not just for turkey anymore. 😉

I’d purchase these beats in a health food store. They were delicious. I was hesitant to buy them off of Amazon Amazon, but they’re just as good. And, they are less Expensive on Amazon.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received my package a little bit ago and opened it to see if I would be satisfied or not because I have been craving Beets for some odd reason. They are just gorgeous and I actually thought I’d be getting more in a package that what I received but that’s because they are so big! I can’t wait until they get cooled down so I can have some. They average about 4-5 in the one pound package and they’re just as deep red as the jars of pickled beets I also received today. I’m very pleased and I will be buying more from this company!

I love these beets, I could only find them at Cosco and did not need to go there.
Perfect.😋

I like being able to enjoy beets with my Greek yogurt and quinoa for lunch when I’m at home, and wanted the same option when I traveled out of state to visit family recently. I usually buy mine at Trader Joe’s, but they require refrigeration, which makes it difficult to pack for air travel. So I came across these and had Amazon deliver them to my cousin’s home. I found them to be fresh and tasty. Other reviewers had mentioned the coloration was off; I didn’t find this to be the case, however. Best yet, they arrived boxed in 3 vacuum-packed bags and didn’t require refrigeration until opened — so we were able to enjoy them without adding a lot of clutter to my cousin’s already-packed refrigerator! We go to Connecticut for part of the summer, and the closest Trader Joe’s is nearly an hour away, so it’s very likely I will order these again when I go there to have delicious beets available whenever I want them.
