These are delicious. I grew up eating abalone as it is a delicacy in my culture, often reserved for special occasions and celebrations (New Year, weddings, important family gatherings, etc). I’ve only had other brands so I decided to give these a try. Do know that you are getting 4 PIECES of abalone in this one can. Abalone is not cheap stuff, so don’t be surprised!
The only way I’ve ever eaten these is either:
– boiled, cut into small triangle chunks, in a seafood porridge style
– boiled, thinly sliced, in seafood porridge or plain with mayonnaise
This is the only way I’ve had these so I decided to cook them the only way I know how. It was interesting to see others eating these pan fried or stir fried style. It has a chewy texture to it and a distinct abalone taste.
Overall I like the taste of these abalone and it tasted the same as another brand we usually get. I believe these were priced a little more affordably than some of the other brands. If you like abalone, give this brand a try.

A product of Chile, this 15 ounce can of delicious abalone is packed in brine. There are 4 pieces in the can along with approximately 3/4 cup of brine. High in protein, 1/3 of the can has 50 calories and 11.4 grams of protein. They are fully cooked and the flavor is mild–fresh and buttery–and the mollusk has a chewy texture reminiscent of a clam although it has been described as similar to squid.
Ingredients are water, Chilean Abalone, salt, monosodium glutamate, sodium tripolyphosphate, citric acid, EDTA and sodium metabisulfite. To estimate shelf-life at the time of this review in April 2022 the Best By date is 41 months in the future but dates will vary. A sustainable seafood and delicious treat.

If you are Asian and you’ve been to a wedding, you definitely know what abalone is. It’s that pricey dish that looks like brown circles covered in glistening sauce over a pile of steamed vegetables. Abalone is a delicacy and most people think paying upwards of $30 to $50 for canned seafood is crazy. Make sure you know how to cook this properly so that it does not turn rubbery. In the hands of a skilled chef it will sort of have the texture of octopus and the amazing briney flavor will come out. The quality of the abalone in this can is on par with other high quality abalone that I have eaten.

These Chilean locos (Concholepas concholepas) are a very nice delicacy. They have a taste and texture similar to real abalones. They are ready to eat out of the can. Meaty and tasty. You can enjoy them on their own but I prefer to spread a bit of mayonnaise on them. They are also great in chowders (dice them up first).
These come in brine inside a regular can. You’ll need a can opener for this. Contains MSG. Also contains preservatives, so wash them before consumption. Product of Chile. Overall, these are good-quality locos. Tasty and fresh. They taste like abalones but more affordable. Good stuff.

I loved the product but found it extremely overpriced for what you receive.

The abalone is fine, both taste and texture. But the can had FIVE dents. It was shipped in a plastic bag inside a barely padded and too large paper bag. No bubble wrap. No box. For this price, ship it decently padded, please.
