This thing is actually pretty awesome. It folds up so small that’s it’s never in the way. I thru hiked the CDT with this and kept it in the inner pocket of my fanny pack the whole trail. On other thru hikes I’ll start with a tripod but quickly send it home because it’s too bulky and annoying to keep handy. Yeah it’s not very tall but I would just place it on something.

I bought one of these many years ago and for the last couple years I’ve had to fight with it to get it to hold position with my iPhone attached. Then I noticed the articulating “beads” becoming loose due to stress cracking making the whole thing floppy. The old one would never fold “flat” (90°) like this new one does, so I was always forcing it into position to get it into my backpack, the force finally caused the cracking. Apparently the engineers at Joby figured this out and redesigned the articulation at the top so it now bends 90° at the top common joint. Out of the box this new one is tight, and folds perfectly! I hope this change makes this one the last one I need to purchase. Great redesign! The photos show the new one opened, folded and another showing the old one (minus the top common articulating bead because I couldn’t find it in the trash) next to the new one to show the comparable size. The new one is actually slightly smaller than the old design…bravo!

When reading the reviews, I was not sure if this came with just the mini tripod or also the phone stand as the phone stand alone cost $12.99. Both of the them come in the kit and are very nicely packaged. In general, the stand is a nice aluminum and is very durable, while the plastic phone holder is made of a solid polymer with metal rods and springs. It grasp the phone very well, but it is not the most stable on un-even ground. This is holding an iPhone Xs, and you can see that there is room for a larger case as well. The arms on the back capable of expanding much more so I am positive that an iPhone Xs Max would fit. It works incredibly well for tables and desk, just know that it can not hold the phone in portrait orientation for FaceTime or anything. The thread on the mini tripod is standard size which will allow it to hold many other devices such as speakers, small cameras, and even larger ones. There is not enough friction in the ball joint to hold larger cameras though so it will try to lean if the lens is too heavy.
All in all, I would definitely recommend purchasing this before they are sold out and lost with time. Nobody else makes anything this small and handy. It should also last a very long time with regular use. I would have purchased the tripod even if the phone holder did not come with it. I have been pleasantly surprised by the usefulness of this stand.

I travel a lot and like to take my baby’s capsule with me usually, this is perfect for it. you can’t project on the curling really because it doesn’t bend that far but it works perfect for what I needed. feels very well made. could easily carry this in your pocket.
My Reviews –
As someone who’s always on the lookout for practical and efficient gadgets, my recent purchase of the “JOBY GripTight ONE GP, Universal Phone Holder” has left me thoroughly impressed.
One of the standout features of the JOBY GripTight ONE GP is its simple yet robust design. Its construction is rugged enough to hold my phone securely in place while maintaining a lightweight profile. The ease of installation and removal of the phone is a breeze, and its universal fit means it can handle various phone sizes without a hitch.
The adjustable height and angle features require a slight learning curve but are well worth it. Although it might take a moment to find the perfect angle or height for viewing, once locked in, it stays put, providing a stable viewing experience, regardless of the environment. This flexibility has been particularly useful for hands-free calls, watching videos, and even for capturing steady photos or videos.
When compared to other brands that I’ve tried, the JOBY GripTight ONE GP stands out significantly. It has shown better resilience to wear and tear, maintains a stronger grip on my phone, and provides more flexibility with positioning. Plus, its compact design makes it easy to pack and carry around, perfect for on-the-go use.
In summary, the “JOBY GripTight ONE GP, Universal Phone Holder” is a fantastic accessory that does what it’s supposed to do, and does it well. The combination of its simplicity, durability, and flexibility make it a gadget that I’d highly recommend to anyone in need of a reliable phone holder.
Whether you’re a professional looking for a handy tool for video calls, a content creator in need of steady video capture, or just someone who enjoys hands-free phone use, the JOBY GripTight ONE GP has got you covered! A well-deserved five stars from me.

I love the design of this thing. It is satisfying to expand and collapse. It has a very nice and stable platform assuming you have a relatively flat and stable surface for it.
The design of the cradle makes it nice for holding your phone vertically or horizontally, and when vertical, there is a cutout for the charging port to be plugged in on the bottom
The only nitpick I have is that it can be a little too easy to start unscrewing the cradle from the base when you really just mean to rotate its orientation.

I would give this 6 out of 5 stars if I could, it’s just so adaptable. I use it while watching movies, reading books, and in video calls.

If you are looking for a small compact tripod for occasional smartphone pictures, this is the one. It folds up super compact. I bought one years ago, and only had to buy a new one as iPhones have gotten so thick. My wife leaves it in her purse and it’s not noticeable. When we need a tripod, we have one!

This micro tripod has been around for a decade or more now! It makes you wonder why. After all, it is a one-trick pony, right? It is but this pony does this one trick better than most! And that’s why it still sells virtually unchanged and arguably unchallenged!
Pros 👍👍👍
– Micro: It fits in your jeans’ lighter pocket with room to spare!
– Well made. Unless you lose it, or deliberately abuse it, it will likely last you for years!
– This thing will grip your phone and hold it steady, no problem.
– It will accommodate most phone sizes.
– Tilt adjustment, while limited, is actually a thoughtful touch.
– 1/4” 20-thread screw means you can pair it your own accessory with the tripod portion.
Cons 👎👎👎
– It shoots only in horizontal orientation, and that’s its biggest limitation.
– Pricy: The $35 MSRP seems steep for what you’re getting but that’s relative.
My Verdict 🧐
If you’re looking for a Micro Tripod, this GripTight ONE Micro Stand by Joby is your best and arguably only option! It’s a niche product, but it does the job well enough to make it a top pick in its class.
If you’re embracing the MagSafe lifestyle, the MOFT Phone Tripod Stand is an excellent choice. I’ve reviewed it recently, so you can check it out.
I hope my short review has helped you make a more informed buying decision 👍😊✌️

I’m using this product with a larger iphone 13 pro. But it seems the phone is a little heavy for the support. The legs kind of sag after a few seconds. And when gripping to an object like a tree limb, it kind of relaxes. It usually doesn’t fall–but it’s scary.
I’m thinking that I should have gone to one of the larger models. But this size is so convenient and I hate to five that up. For that reason I’m giving 4 stars..just don’t expect that adding a mic or light will allow it to stay in one place. Still very sturdy if you grip all 3 legs at once like selfies. But not set up in a tripod position. I think maybe too flexible!
