Control GX is the first and only shampoo smart enough to gradually reduce greys by slowly bringing them back to their natural shade while it cleanses and conditions your hair. You get an extremely natural look – just by shampooing as you normally do. Just use it instead of your usual shampoo until you like what you see. Then use it in rotation with your usual shampoo to maintain the look you like. There’s never been an easier way to control your grey. Get the look you want: Use the control GX as your daily shampoo, and after the first few washes, you’ll start to see a subtle reduction in the amount of gray. Continue to use it until you reach your desired level of grey reduction (generally within 2 to 4 weeks). You can even control how gradually you get to your desired result by using it daily or every other day at the start. Keep it that way: Once you’ve reached the level of grey reduction you like, you can reduce the frequency of use, alternating with another shampoo. In general guys use it as their daily shampoo at the start, and when they are in “maintenance mode” they use it 3 to 4 times a week.

Barnacle Bill The Sailor –
I’ve been using the Control GX shampoo product for my hair for a couple of years now and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the old style “Touch Of Gray” product for my hair.
So when I decided to grow a beard, I figured the Control GX shampoo for beards might be a better option than the older mix-n-brush on stuff.
OK, beards are a different problem. Facial hair is thicker, coarser, and harder to dye. It’s also generally shorter than the hair on your scalp. And therein lies the first problem. The shampoo solution needs something to grab onto if it’s gonna dye the hair. In my experience, when you’re first growing out your beard or if you just want to keep a short stubble this product isn’t great. It begins to perform much better when your beard reaches at least 1/4″ but really kicks in at about 1/2″ of hair length when there is enough hair to really hold the shampoo. My recommendation would be to wait until your beard is at least 1/2″ long before you start dyeing it.
Second, my beard is probably 80% white and I wanted to get it close to the hair on my scalp while leaving maybe 25% gray. If you follow the directions and leave it on for 5 minutes, it will happen (very) slowly. Like maybe a month. So, I’ve found that I have to leave it on for 10-12 minutes once or twice a week at first to get the results I want. But that’s gonna vary for everyone based on how white your beard is, how much color you want, how coarse your beard is and how long you want to wait to see results. Once you get the color you want, you can probably cut back to once a week and dial it back from the 10-12 minutes to more like 5-7 minutes.
But it does work. It is easy to use. It produces a more natural looking result than the old mix-and-brush on products in my opinion. You’re also far less likely to screw up and over darken your hair because this works so gradually. And finally, it seems to be much less prone to staining your skin than the old brush on product.

This is similar to their beard dyes only pre-mixed in a mild form.
•Pic 1 – My hand is not as dirty as it looks (stains). You can see dye mixed with the activator.
•Pic 2 – Before and after 3 applications
-The pictures do not do it justice.
-No one is looking at your mustache this close. Walking past mirrors my mustache was almost all white looking. After 3 applications it is more of a dull brown.
•Pic 3 – Staining
-Dry skin on my hand stained purple. This my also stain your counters but seems to clean off of porcelain sinks. The purple stains do not show up till the next day.
•Application;
-Make sure you shake/message the bottle to mix the dye and activator. The instructions do not say this but I could tell the difference after shaking it up.
-The longer you leave it on, the darker it gets (just like their dyes)
• Final Thoughts
This works without looking like you just dyed your beard.
The up-close pictures are kind of the wrong perspective.
I am guessing I will use this 2-3 times a week for maintenance (Mostly white mustache)
This is probably best suited for those just starting to go gray.
This seems to work on gray hairs better than white hair.

Waited to write this review after using this product for months. Reading others, I started about a week after growth; I did not have a full beard when I started using the shampoo. My goal was to even out the gray; my mustache is very dark but my beard is not, making it look like I didn’t have a beard in pictures. This product works, but you have to leave it in longer than the instructions.
What you need to know:
Wet your beard and put shampoo in and leave it; the longer the better. I shave my head, and that takes 4-5 minutes, which seems to be a good length of time. You will see results within a day if you leave the product in long enough. I use the beard shampoo almost every time I shower, and I do NOT use any other shampoo on my beard.
This is MESSY. I do not recommend using it around the sink. I always use in the shower, leave it in, then rinse at the very end. Having a shower mirror helps–you can wipe off the extra shampoo so you don’t risk staining your skin. You can rinse off the shampoo from every surface as long as you don’t let it sit. I haven’t had any staining issues and we have an off-white surface in our shower.
Use a towel you don’t care about staining, especially at first. I dried my beard with a separate towel in case it stained, and it did. Same with pillow case if you use this product close to bed time.
All in all, the product does what it says–it blends the gray into your primary color, while not taking the gray completely away.

I decided to try this based on the reviews and it’s been a worthwhile purchase. In just 5 applications it’s already bringing darker color to the lightest gray in my beard and mustache. In many ways it’s working “too” good. I don’t want to completely eliminate my gray so I adjust the application to my preference.
My method is to wet my beard really good in the shower, wash out the wax and beard balm, apply the shampoo generously all over where I want it and I set a timer for exactly 5 MINUTES then rinse. (Another reviewer gave me the idea, so, many thanks to him!) Be cautious if you have sensitive skin. Facial skin is more delicate than we realize; there is the risk of irritation.
Be careful applying as this stuff is a semi-strong dye. Use your palms to apply because it will stain your fingernails. Rinse your hands immediately after applying. Be careful to not let this get on your lips.
Also, have a towel (preferably dark) that you don’t mind staining because invariably you will need it to wipe areas around your eyes and dry your beard.
All in all, I recommend this product, especially if you have brown or red tones to your facial hair. It does work! I’m more of a salt and pepper shade so I don’t want to go too deep with the color. I wish this product was made for black tones rather than brownish but I did realize this before I bought this. I’m far from complaining. BTW: I made the gamble to buy the 3 pack because I had that much faith in trying it. I’m satisfied. I’ve still got most of the first container left. The scent is rather rank but after you rinse it out you won’t notice it. I blow dry, style my beard and mustache, apply wax and balm which are nice smelling products that eliminate any scent from this product.
Best wishes to all who decide to use this shampoo!

This was the first time I’ve ever tried hair color of any kind (I’m 62 and back in the job market, so ugh) and I was nervous that my beard was going to fall out, or I would look completely fake. After the first use, I relaxed. I think it has a neutral, inoffensive smell, and I had no issues with skin irritation. Yes, it will stain the cuticle areas around your fingernails. Scrub them as if you were a kid who just played in the dirt and it goes away. Better yet, put a rubber glove on one hand, squeeze and apply the colorant into the gloved hand, and then a few minutes later, use that same hand to rinse it out of your beard. Bam, no stained fingers. I went with 3 minutes at first, then 4, and settled on 5, and use it every third day. That schedule definitely provides an overall darkening of the gray that stays pretty consistent. It worked for ME, anyway, I didn’t want it any darker or lighter. After I get a new job I plan to ditch this but I was pleased to find the product, which easily shaved a few years off my overall appearance, and very affordably.

I’ve used this product for about three years now. It gradually brings color to your beard and never raises the, “did you dye your beard” questions.

if you use as directed you will be using alot of this product and often. My wife loves the scent, I’m just trying to hide my gray hairs. I leave it on a little longer than directed so I don’t have to use it as often, but you will need to use a couple of times per week to maintain whatever look you are going for.

I’m still waiting to notice the results after 7 washes. No notable difference in color yet.

Prior to purchasing this product I read multiple reviews. The primary complaint was that it took too many applications to work and that it works slowly. That is exactly what it says it will do. The gradual transition works very well. I will caution that if you have a beard that has gray and color the colored parts darken more quickly than the gray parts. If you want immediate color buy something else if you want a gradual transition or to leave some gray this product works very well. Once I attained my desired mix I use the product approximately two days a week and it maintains the color very well. I haven’t had issues with brown lips or fingernails that is mentioned in the reviews and I do use my fingertips to apply the product to my mustache, rinsing my fingertips quickly after applying the product. Very pleased with the results.

The shampoo works great for me. I only use the shampoo every 2-3 weeks, but the beard wash did nothing the first time I tried it and the second time (left it in longer) just made my beard look dirty. I think the courser hair in my beard is the problem.
