Done with Kejora – crooks that do not care about customers. One time you get fresh garlic, even if it’s off-season, another time, hwen you expect recent harvest – you may get old rusty something that is very far away from fresh organic garlic….

Kejora Fresh Organic Purple Hardneck Garlic Review…

I was perusing Amazon’s fresh garlic and stumbled on the second photo of “Kejora Fresh 100% ORGANIC Purple Garlic…” what was clearly 4/6 visibly hardneck garlic bulbs, (the other two were facing the camera on the roots end) and, as a former garlic grower, I was hoping for (but not expecting) to find my beloved, former hardneck garlics on Amazon, so I clicked on it, saw it was organic and indeed hardneck, and…I fell in love…I bought some. It came intelligently packed and in good condition. I ate three cloves the next day, raw, in some imported Italian pasta with homemade pesto, three hot Thai peppers, and EVO…Yummo!
If you are into detail, this garlic included 3 bulbs that had bare cloves because the grower picked them after they were ready to be harvested and their wrappers were decayed away…BUT, what is nice is…IF u get it: Those are the bulbs/cloves u eat first while the others will store a while…From a former grower’s perspective, this is perfect because a crop harvested at one time did not mature at the same rate, so a few overachiever bulbs need eating up…but if you love garlic that tastes better than store bought, this is not a problem, lolz.
Anyway, I know good garlic and good garlic growing practices and these come from a person or people that know them as well.
To add more justification for my 5-star rating, after garlic is harvested it needs to be cured and dried for good shelf life: This garlic was cured well and survived a rough patch (called shipping) in which a farmer does their best and hopes the shipper does not screw up…Well, this farm did it’s best, the shipper got the produce to me and this is some AWESOME garlic, similar to my favorite varietals, Bogatyr and Metechi, just a bit more productive here, on cloves per bulb, lolz, that is a good thing!
In summary, my 5-star rating is justified and my 35 years as a science teacher and several years as an heirloom garlic grower supports this conclusion… GREAT JOB!
I am curious, however, that since “purple garlic” is a descriptor, it is not a varietal name…so I wonder which variety of garlic this really is…oh farm, feel free to share, lolz…
(If farms had groupies like rock stars, I would be this farm’s groupie, rofl…)

I had ordered garlic several times from Kejora Fresh in the past. Until recently, the garlic had always been fresh and a purple color as advertised. However, the last batch of garlic was not the same garlic as delivered before. It was pale white, indicting that it had been bleached to increase shelf life, and about one third of it was rotten.

This garlic made a wonderful paste. I use it for cooking and garlic bread, nice mild, baked flavor.
