First, my father was Irish, my mum was Scottish and I grew up in England and Belgium.
Now, I love America and Americans, but a lot of you haven’t been outside of your State, let alone your country, and that’s fine. The country is massive and hey, I’m too poor to get a cab, alright, ride share, in town, at this point, so I understand there are many reasons why people can’t/won’t/don’t go abroad.
I’m old enough to remember a phone book (!) ad that said “Let your fingers do the walking.” For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of eating the cheeses that come from Europe that have to be frozen before they’re imported here, my heart goes out to you. But, for a hint of the UK and EU of my heart and mind, do buy a slab of Kerrygold.
Alright, this came as two sticks, but I tend to think of it and other EU style butter as coming in slabs. I lived with my BFF for almost 20 years, as we’d bought a massive property we were rehabbing together. We had our own spaces, but shared a kitchen and living room, so as she adds salt to any savoury dish before she even tastes (I KNOW), out of habit, I’ve been eating salted butter.
Living by myself now, I bought some unsalted butter a while back, as of course I’m making bread. How else am I going to choke to death alone?! It was made by a very popular East Coast brand, and was meh. I just went back to using salted butter, in part because I’m on Food Stamps, so I’m looking at the stuff that’s on sale/cheapest. But then, I decided to change my mind about some products, and go for quality…
I had one of those The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Music moments, when I first bit into a dab of this. I hadn’t been drinking and don’t do drugs, but I swear I could taste the fresh, green grass that happy, free grazing cows had enjoyed. As the sweet, creamy taste enveloped my tongue, it gave me just a sliver of the fields of childhood and home.
Even if I never get to see them again; I’m glad I can have a wee taste of them here, in a city that’s thousands of miles away.

It is so delicious! It has more milk fats than regular butter, so you can brown it beautifully and it’s got an amazing flavor.

A tad expensive but worth it!

Best tasting butter

No matter how much this butter costs, this is the one I will serve to my family. It’s pure and tastes like butter used to before it got so processed.

My favorite butter! I don’t care how expensive it is! I can’t believe it ‘s really butter!!!

This is the only butter I buy to make ghee. I buy 3 2-packs and it perfectly fills up a 16 ounce Mason jar.

I will not go back to other brands after using this for a while now. Very good and natural taste.

Not the best European brand I’ve bought, but has more milk fat than American brands, and that, frankly, is what makes a richer butter.
