Until I tried this version, I thought that the German version was the best – and I’ve tried them all, German, Mexican, Chinese and now the French.
Most stores in the U.S. carry the Chinese version (read the label). There’s something different about their brewing method or ingredients, because it tastes different than does the original German condiment I grew up with. When I saw the German and Mexican versions in a specialty store, I bought one of each and tried a blind taste test. The German seasoning beat the other two hands down. I saw the French Version available at Amazon and thought I’d add it to the collection for a blind tasting I was arranging for a German friend of mine. I tried the French and have to say, I like it as much as the original. There is a slight color difference between the German and French. Of them all, the French is the lightest shade of brown, and the Mexican version I have has a very thick motor oil consistency. So, a blind taste needs to include a blindfold.
There are taste differences between all four. The French is ever so subtly different from the German. You can’t go wrong with either. Both are outstanding. (and no, this tastes nothing like soy sauce)

It doesn’t taste like your typical soy sauce. But to me it’s much better. A little goes a long way.

Very disappointed that the inner seal was removed, not just broken off, causing leaks during shipping– The possibility was that the bottle had been tampered with. It was shipped from New York, not France, raising doubt about the product’s authenticity. I’m not going to risk my health with it. Better safe than sorry! Furthermore, one of its ingredients is “le glutamate monosodique”, which is monosodium glutamate (MSG) that might cause adverse reactions.
Cons: expensive, misleading description, tasted ok

Same great stuff now in a 20% smaller bottle.
Listing is for the old 200ml bottle, received a new 160ml bottle.

Tastes exactly like it did over in France. Adds a great flavor to almost anything you cook. It’s hard to tell if the bottle was sealed when it got here, but that’s mostly because of how the cap is built. Shipping was fast and very protected. It came in many layers of bubble wrap so the glass bottle was definitely not going to break. It’s a great product and I would recommend it. Just don’t mistake it for soy sauce. It is NOT the same thing as soy sauce. It has a similar flavor to MSG in my opinion. The labeling is all in French and says it’s made in France as well. Definitely satisfied my craving for this stuff!

I had stopped buying Nestle products after 2/24/22 due to a moral dilemma. I purchased this product accidentally, not realizing it was made by Nestle.
However, having said that, I will be sad to be without this product after I run out because it is so good. Keep in mind that it does include MSG so if you are sensitive, this is not a good choice. It really did enhance the flavor of my Stroganoff. Hopefully by the time I get to the end of the bottle, this nonsense will be straightened out so I can buy Nestle products again without feeling like a terrible jerk.

I’ve found no better brand of soy sauce than this one… I was in a Chineese grocery and a woman saw that I needed help picking a good sauce.. this blew me away! It is hard to find.. a rare item.
