I’ve shopped around and tried many sweet chili sauces. This is the best! Right amount of sweetness with just a bit of heat from the chilis.

I first ran into this sauce when hiking in Nepal. The sherpas loved it and its easy to see why. They would use it as dip on shrimp puffs, put it in their Dal Bhat (As if that wasn’t hot enough.) It’s great on burritos, beef,chicken, beans, and grain pilaf. If your hummus ain’t hummin’ enough for your stir some of this in. A must if you’re eating MREs. I buy it here because after Covid the local store stopped carrying it and tried to peddle some junk substitute. If you like spicy but not too hot balanced with sweet but not too sweet Maggi Sweet Chili Sauce is for you. Try it out and you’ll find you’ll need to buy multiple bottles.

I was really bummed that I missed the word “Thai” in the description. There’s a kind of sweet chili sauce, pureed and completely smooth, with more tamarind in it, that I was hoping for. I wish the word “Thai” had been more prominent in the description. When I lived in Malaysia, Maggi made the kind I came to love. Now it seems that only Yeo’s has the kind I wanted. My fault for not looking more carefully, but some hint that this was the Thai kind of sweet chili sauce would have been helpful.
