There was a LOT of broccoli dust–enough for me to think that a few large ‘sprigs’ had disintegrated. I’d hate to have opened this in an emergency for my family and discover that one of us (probably me!) would be surviving on green dust. Taste-wise, excellent!

Tastes like very fresh broccoli was used. Nice sweetness. Only problem, and probably unavoidable, is that there is so much broccoli “powder” from the
tops of the florets falling off and rubbing against each other, that you really have to soft thru a lot of it to get a clear serving. But compared to their competitors, they’re still the best.

I use this for lazy cooking at home, but I initially got it for trekkingbackpacking.
I can eat it as is with water or can soak it in cold (or hot) water. This is great for me, as I do not carry a stove while backpacking.

Probably most of us know that broccoli is really healthy. However, if you’re like me, you find it a lot more fun to eat when it’s covered in something like blue cheese salad dressing, but that kind of defeats the health point.
The Nutristore freeze-dried broccoli (and also its freeze-dried bananas, raspberries, blueberries, etc.) are super-easy to consume. I add the broccoli to smoothies, to yogurt, and (for some added crunch and nutritional value) to salads, rice, soups (better than croutons), and virtually everything else. If you’re a commuter who brings lunch with you, it’s lightweight, takes up little space, and packs the same nutritional power.
It’s made me a fan of a whole bunch of Nutristore products. Though it seemed pricey at first, a can of these vegetables actually in freeze-dried form actually contains a whole lot of broccoli (or strawberries, raspberries, etc.). I find it much easier to enhance a meal’s or snack’s nutritional impact with these products.

I wanted a way to pack meals that I design for specific macronutrient needs while backpacking. By purchasing this broccoli along with freeze-dried chicken, I managed to have some very healthy, nutritious meals with the right ratios of protein/fat/carbs to meet both my energy needs and the muscle recovery and protein needs while on a long trip in the backcountry. I ate the same thing every day and it kept me going with high energy levels while also losing weight. This is something pretty difficult to do when just eating pre-packaged backpacking meals which are generally filled with carbs and fat but have very little to no protein to offer, and yet have a very high cost (often as much as $20/meal!). The freeze dried broccoli tastes just like regular broccoli once re-hydrated, and stays fresh for a long time.
