I will write a love letter to these apples. I love fresh fruit, but sometimes I just need a crunch. I have a complicated health diagnosis I live with and I do not eat chips or most crackers. I also have oral issues, if that was not enough – diabetes (type one). The diabetes I mention because these apple chips are remarkably low carb (carb-fiber) and low glycemic (the carbs it does have do not raise blood sugar at a level that is faster than a diabetic can correct with normal insulin, or for non-diabetics, will not flood their blood with sugar and thus too much insulin to chase it) compared to a standard “soft” dried fruit which are delicious but very concentrated, thus very sugary.
Freeze-dried things are actually aerated. The little oxygen bubbles are locked in shape and not shrunk like a raisin. The skins on these apples do not seem to add enough fiber to be noticeable but they are nutritious and locked in while they were beautifully red and green. I mentioned the oral issues because this is the only freeze dried product I’ve ever been able to tolerate. I love all of them but I have oral issues in which the caking that you get when you eat this type of thing normally makes them a non-starter for me. These apples just do not do any of that. They are very clean to eat and do not leave a mess in your mouth. This is a big deal for me and why I spend this much time finding products like this. I will mention I tried the banana’s once and they did do that (but they are some of the worst for anyone). I would bet more products like apples in texture from this company would be worth trying. Aside from that – these are just damn good. Crispy, sweet, a little tart – and cheaper than any other snacks I buy.
I actually buy the 4 packs but I think if you subscribe to the 1 can’s then those are the cheapest method. Cheers

I opened the can to try. Because I would like to buy more food from that company. However, I wanted to try firts. The quality and the flavor was great. Especially, for long term. I’m thinking in buying all the fruits.

I was going to add it to my storage, but I opened one to see how it tastes and I ate the whole can in 10 days.

Living in one of those states where we’ve been locked up for 8 months, I was looking for some shelf-stable goodies to stock up on. We buy the freeze-dried apples in a big bag at Sam’s and love them. But, once the bag is open, the apples disappear quickly. The Nutristore apples seemed like a huge can and the reviews were talking about, oh, I eventually had to make pie out of these apples, they went so far. Ha! We left this huge can on the kitchen counter for snacking and within a few days, I’m looking at the bottom of the empty can.
These apples are VERY delicious and just a very yummy snack. But they are pretty pricey if you eat them like potato chips. Still, they are great to have on hand — filling, nutritious, easy and not highly caloric. Just don’t think you will have to make them into apple pie because otherwise you can’t use them up! They could be gone before you know it.

First time trying this product. It’s wonderful. Now I can eat Fuji apples. Will be buying this product again.

These wedges are just the right size to snack on and yes they taste like apple and aren’t overly soft as some freeze dried apples get, but still give easy when you bite into them as you’d expect. Crunchy freeze dried w/skins on (skins are as soft as the rest of it).
They used imperfect apples, the kind with scars and whatnot that grocery stores don’t want due to how they look. It doesn’t affect edibility or flavor so it’s all good to me.
The can is about 28.5cm x 30cm and made of metal with a plastic lid for after you open it. There’s no tab so you will need a can opener to get in. It does have one of those oxygen absorber packets inside.
I’m a little disappointed that it’s only around half full, which is a bit wasteful given the main purpose of these is to be stored. If I were buying for emergencies, I’d hope they have one of these that was full or put in a different can that it fills (13oz?).
