I have found myself with dry hands over the last few years. Something I never had to deal with in the past. There are a million hand lotions out there, some smell pretty, some are greasy, some are useless….. This hand creme is by far the best I have tried.
I love the container, it’s easy to open and there is a large area of product available. It is not greasy and has no odor. Using it over a week has made a huge difference in the appearance of my hands. I think I am going to stick with this for a while.

Have only used this for a couple of days, but I absolutely love it! It softens your skin so much and almost puts a protective coating on the skin. It’s not greasy at all and doesn’t sting. Great product for when your skin just flat out hurts from dryness and when you have a lot of small cuts/cracks from it. I think I will have soft healthy skin again before long! Highly recommend and will be buying this again!

Great product ! I must say that I was skeptical about its effect after trying so many products, and I must say that it works wonderfully. My hands were in a terrible condition, really dry and full of cracks, and now they are much more pleasant and moist and all the cracks are gone!

*Original Review with Old formula* – (Dec 15, 2016)
I have been using this for about two months now. I had to use it religiously throughout the day and then again before bedtime to see results. If I stop using this, my dry patches around my hands would come back. I wash my hands often so I have to reapply several times. At the beginning I wasn’t very satisfied since it felt like a temporary fix. One hand wash and it’s back to dry so I decided to use it multiple times a day and it got a lot better. We have to put effort if we want to see results. It’s not an instant fix. When the skin is severely dry it burns/stings at first. I kept reapplying even with the pain and it lessened over time because it started to heal. I nearly gave up until I read someone else’s review. I repeat, don’t give up! Unless you are certain you are having a bad allergic reaction.

*Edit/Update* – (Dec 25, 2021)
Lately I have been having bad flare-ups of rashes (eczema? I don’t know). I was using all sorts of different moisturizers (expensive botanical/organic stuff) and a prescription but majority either worsened or barely had any effect. I suddenly remembered this in my drawer. I only had a little bit left so I bought a new jar and realized formula has changed. It seems that the new formula removed Dimethicone, Ceteth-10, and Laureth-4. No new ingredients were added. The cream is still solid (non-drippy) in the jar but it applies thinner. You can rub it in a large area of body quicker due to the new consistency. It dries pretty similar to the old/original formula. Slightly waxy and sticky but not oily/greasy. It feels so much better than products like Vaseline. My skin feels soft and moisturized. It doesn’t cause any oily sheen/shine on the skin. The new formula isn’t fragranced but it does have some kind of wet smell. I don’t recall the old formula having that. Thankfully it’s tolerable. I think the new formula absorbs better into the skin. Initially I missed the thickness of the old formula but I quickly adapted. So far it’s not worsening my rashes. What a relief! Finally found a solution! Is it healing my skin? Yes, especially in areas that are mild condition. My hands look so much better compared to a week ago. I sometimes mix this with hydrocortisone. I will update in the future if necessary.
-Ingredients (new/current formula):
Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Paraffin, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Allantoin, Octyldodecyl Stearate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Acrylates/Acrylamide Copolymer, Mineral Oil, Polysorbate 85

My skin is now even better! It’s amazing! I can now confidently say this is my “holy grail” skincare. I’ll never forget this product in my drawer ever again. My skin looks fully healed. I am not getting frequent flare-ups either. I still use it everyday out of fear of it returning but I don’t apply as often throughout the day. I’m so glad this brand works for me because a lot of the other brands are greasy and uncomfortable to use. This is very tolerable like butter cream. I think I actually prefer their new formula; however, the smell is a little funky. The old one I don’t recall having any smell.
I recently discovered the best alternative to O’Keefe! It’s “Up & Up hand cream” from Target. It’s a generic copied version of O’Keeffe Working Hands. It smells a little better (like unscented baby wipes) so if you love O’keeffe but cannot stand the smell then I suggest trying that. Their ingredients are very similar but up&up has about 2 different ingredients (you can view comparison in my photo). Up&Up’s formula actually reminds me more of o’keeffe’s old formula.

*Update/Edit* – (March 15, 2023)
Hi. It’s me again with another update/revision to my review. I recently bought O’Keeffe’s Healthy Feet (blue jar). It didn’t have any off-putting smell compared to Working Hands (green jar). The ingredients and consistency/texture are nearly identical. The difference is very minor that most people won’t notice. Allantoin is 5th in the ingredients list of Healthy Feet while it is 7th place in Working Hands. Healthy Feet is slightly more expensive but worth it for me since I don’t have to worry about the funky smell. I prefer Healthy Feet Cream (blue jar) over Up&Up’s (Target) generic version of O’Keeffe’s Working Hands.

*Update/Edit* – (Aug 20, 2023)
My last purchase of “Healthy Feet” in a jar was strangely gritty/beady and so I called the company to report it and they sent me a free replacement! So kind! I can confirm that if you reach out to them they will help. However, they sent me “Working Hands” instead. I lucked out by their mistake since I have been curious to repurchase Working Hands. I wanted to see if the funky smell was gone and yes, the smell is gone! Another confirmation. It smells like nothing. No odor. I guess I had two bad batches of Working Hands in the past and recently one bad batch of Healthy Feet. Kind of yikes but I still love them and will continue using their products. As always I will update my review if necessary.

I haven’t used a ton of different lotions, I just pick something up at random or use something I have lying around when it starts getting below freezing, as my hands tend to dry up a little bit during winter. There’s a couple things I like about this enough to write a review about it:
– It’s a thick compound, something between room temp coconut oil and softened butter. You really do not need to apply much for a sufficient moisturization of wherever you’re applying it to. These two things together make one container last a really long time, I’ll probably still be using this one container in two years if it doesn’t go bad somehow, very good value for money.
– It doesn’t make your hands slick. I can see why it’d be specifically marketed to working hands. You could keep this stuff in your garage and not have to worry about not being able to hold tools for the next 20 minutes. The lid is also rubberized and very easy to open.
– I don’t have particularly sensitive skin, but I haven’t had any negative reactions to the product. I also apply a bit to my face every other day or so. It apparently has one ingredient that may cause blackheads on the face, though I haven’t had this issue.
– It really is unscented. You have to stick your nose right into the container to get any hint of a scent, and even then it’s just a very neutral “clean laundry” kind of smell.
– I have an on-and-off problem biting my nails and chewing skin around my nails. I haven’t specifically gone out of my way to get lotion around these areas, but my nails and skin seem to heal a little faster and a little bit cleaner/more evenly.
Overall, very satisfied with this lotion at this pricepoint. Will likely stick with this brand going forward.

I’ve always had problems with having cracked fingertips whenever I play basketball. This would get so bad I would have to take a break from playing basketball to let my fingertips heal. I am talking about painful splits in the skin of my fingertips on both my left and right hands that would be really painful and potentially unhealthy (risk of infection). Before getting this product, I just suffered through it and then after doing some internet research people recommended using lotion before and after playing bball. I tried that and it actually helped reduce the drying and cracking, but didn’t eliminate it, it just allowed me to play a little bit more than usual. I just got O’Keefe’s Working Hands Cream maybe a week ago but already it seems to be working significantly better than the other lotions and creams that I had tried. My fingertips are remaining robust and uncracked, which considering the decades that I suffered from dry cracked basketball fingertips, is amazing. It’s too soon to really say if this solved the problem for me but I might come back in a year to update this review.

I AM NOT a lotion person. Putting lotion on my hands gives me the heeby-jeebies and I hate it. But in the cold midewest winters, my hands get so dry they start to crack and bleed. I bought some of this and it is amazing. No greasy, heavy feeling like you have with most liquid lotions. I went from looking like I had the hands of an 85 year old to a 40 year old. Highly recommend. No nasty girly scents that give you a headache. No greasy/oily feeling on your hands. No feeling that your skin is suffocating in mineral oil. No burning of the skin even if you have open wounds. Just soft, supple (I love that word) hands that have had a rough time. That will be gone in moments. Enjoy.

This handcreme really works. It produces smooth, moisturized hands (and feet) . The cracks in the skin next to my fingernails are healing nicely. I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a strong moisturizer that eliminates cracks in both hands and feet.

This made a world of difference! Really helped very raw knuckles.

My hands are very dry and cracked from cooking and doing dishes all the time. This worked within a few days to relieve the cracked skin. Don’t need much at all so it’ll last awhile too.
