Over the years I have used another brand of fish sauce that is readily available at most stores. It was okay. Then I decided to try Red Boat after hearing from many sources how good it is. They are right! The taste (not that you will typically eat it by itself) is definitely top notch. I have expanded the ways I use it, and it gives that “certain something” to a large variety of savory dishes. I won’t go back to the other brand.

I usually don’t spend a lot for fish sauce. Rolands makes the one I normally buy. Except my grocery no longer carries the sugar-free one. So I went online and saw this huge bottle of Red Boat – one of the best and hitherto unaffordible fish sauces and it made most sense to get it. I will now have enough to see me through to 2030, but I now have a great new member of my culinary armamentarium. Go for it! All 64oz.

This is great to keep in the fridge for that extra umami flavor. Nom Nom Paleo used it in many recipes and it really adds an extra dimension of flavor with just a little bit.

I love Red Boat Fish Sauce. No chemical preservatives, colors, or artificial anything. Only two ingredients…fish and salt. It has the best clean flavor and just the right fishy funk. And in the bulk size, we save a bunch of money. Win-win all the way!!

By far, the best fish sauce I have had. High quality and it really helps to bring out the umami flavor in dishes. Also, the owner is super nice. Once I had ordered directly from them and one of the bottles looked odd, like it had crystals in it. When I called, the owner answered directly and explained that this was completely normal, but since I felt uncomfortable with the product, he would send me a new bottle and an extra sample bottle of their highest quality fish sauce. I was very pleasantly surprised by this act of good will. Highly recommend this brand and the company.

The package looked like it might have been opened in transit. The plastic jug did not leak and was bagged in a sealed plastic bag. The top of the jug was caved in. No padding around the jug in box, so it was free to shift around. No idea.
That being said, one reviewer questioned whether this was Red Boat Brand or not. I can’t speak to that reviewers experience, but what I received was Red Boat. Indistinguishable from a sealed glass bottle I still had. There are a couple of other 40N brands available, but I am hooked on Red Boat, and this volume is very reasonably priced.
