I tried adding pea protein powder to a couple of things last year, but I thought the powder had a distinct pea flavor. If I liked peas, it wouldn’t have been a problem. Unfortunately, I don’t like peas. This has no distinct pea flavor, to me. However, I found the chocolate flavor to be a little bland. I’m not sure how to explain it. I liked it enough that I was going to pick up another 4-pack to stowe in the cupboard. However, a big price increase, in a little over a week puput the brakes on that expenditure. When I purchased the first pack on January 3rd, it was $11.12; now it’s $14.99 (first checked on January 11th; reviewed on the13th). That’s an increase $3.87. Since I’m on a fixed income, that’s unacceptable. If it was from a third-party seller, it might make more sense. However, the seller is Ripple, with Amazon doing the shipping. I know Amazon has fees for sellers, plus shipping fees… However, my life circumstances mean I do a great deal of my food shopping online. And, I live in a rural, one stop light town. I’m really tired of getting price gouged, as an online shopper, with few alternatives. I didn’t really mind paying (nearly) $12 for four of these non-dairy shakes, because that’s close to what I paid for four read-to-drink Soylent shakes (back when Amazon had them reliably). I actually liked this a little better than Soylent in one aspect: sometimes Soylent makes me a bit gassy, if I have them for breakfast for too many consecutive days. Two days in a row is a bit short to judge, but I didn’t need a Phazyme… For me, non-dairy living is a necessity, not a choice (unless I want very bad diarrhea stomach pain). However, being on a fixed income means I have to “vote with my wallet.” Especially now that retailers and manufacturers have COVID to blame for astronomical price gouging, my choices are getting even more limited. It’s not my fault I have to use the internet for most of my food shopping, but I’m tired of my wallet constantly being punished, as a consequence. When price increases like this go into affect, I have to pass on purchasing items. No matter the consequences for my nutritional needs.

I’ve never needed a protein drink – thought they were not tasty too. Recently I had to start using them. Ripple’s was delicious and met my dietary needs. Now I look forward to my drink in the morning or at lunch. Two thumbs up!

The product is what it says it is but the packaging is terrible. The plastic around the lid is difficult to remove-it’s easier to cut it with a knife than use the little “tear tab” and then there’s a foil cover that is also a hassle to get off. I think someone with arthritis or strength issues would have a problem.

I have now tried the chocolate flavor and the coffee flavor. I started out with the chocolate flavor. I thought it was pretty good. The drink is not chalk-y at all even though it’s got a lot of protein. The chocolate flavor isn’t the best I have seen in a supplement but it’s still very pleasant and so convinient. (I think some supplements that are make yourself with almond milk are more chocolate milk like but this you just pop into the fridge so it’s worth the trade-off.
Now onto the coffee one.
This one is my favorite! It’s nice to feel like I’m having a coffee with good nutrition facts in it! If they sold this at a coffee shop I would describe it as one of those canned coffees you can get at mini marts that taste like iced coffee with milk. (kind of like the pre-packed starbucks lattes but more iced coffee watered down flavor than latte). The flavor in the beginning is subtle and watery and then you swallow and taste the caffeine and it’s a nice surprise! This goes very well with my breakfast and I find that certain foods bring out the flavor of it even more when you sip it after your food. I will be ordering many more times!

I have lactose issues and got these to help me lose weight. I haven’t used long enough to tell if that is working but they taste good and keep me full without hurting my stupidly sensitive stomach. No problems digesting and if anything they seem to be helping out with that.

Ripple is plant-based and a B-Corp. Win-win. But, the product itself leaves some to be desired. Not the best plant-based protein shakes. They taste like a watered down version of a good shake. Best way I can describe the taste. But if you want a plant-based protein alternative from a company with good business practices, this is it.

These are my favorite protein shakes. Super smooth and yummy. And the large pack is pretty cheap per bottle.

I am writing this review to share my Memorial Day Weekend personal experience with drinking this Ripple Chocolate Protein shake so that other people who may have complications due to the pea protein– can see what happened to me. Now if you have a healthy colon and can eat Peas safely-I cannot-this most likely will never affect you.
The taste is good and I had been needing protein and electrolytes very badly after a heavy chemo bought with FolFox5.
I had been up and walking- eating plain crackers-drinking water getting back to normal.
Then this shake arrived and I thought, Yes! Even Better! So I refrigerated them for about five hours. Took one out to my balcony and truly enjoyed this nondairy chocolate shake.
It DID give me a boost and I was finally able to get out and walk my dog. However, at bedtime, I drank another half a chocolate Ripple shake. I woke up at 3am deathly sick and immediately vomitted both shakes up. It was really scary!!! I then had horrible diahrea and to go to the hospital. Here I am with a Bowel Blockage possibly awaiting a surgery to get a colostomy bag. Ick!!! Major Surgery!
I did have a total Colon Resection Cancer Surgery last March 2022, but this blockage is all new.
Obviously, having Stage 4 Metastasized Colon Cancer and Metastacized Breast Cancer-I am not blaming the shake makers at all on making this blockage happen. I only can say that the Pea Protein immediately aggravated and enflamed my badly damaged colon.
It really messed me up BAD! and now here I am stuck in the hospital. I hope this helps anyone so they can avoid this happening to them. Certain hard vegetables do not process well in the Colon. Peas is one of them.

Finally a product I do not have to take lactose dairy pills with. Like most I was hoping for something for those that are lactose intolerance and any for of milk or whey will send me to the bathroom. This Ripple shake is Awesome and I have no issues and I will be buying and keeping a case or two on hand as they are just as described, rich, smooth and creamy and they are not gritty or chalky. Have a case of Vanilla to be delivered tomorrow. I have found my perfect morning shake. Thank you Ripple.

Ripple products are fantastic! Especially since it’s gluten and dairy free. I’ve been drinking this for years! Sooooo good.
My only concern with having gotten it here is the packaging is slightly different and I “think” the formula is slightly less thick. 🤷🏻♀️
Tastes is still fantastic.
Only protein shake I’ve ever found that tastes good and is not in anyway gritty. Just like chocolate milk.
