I use these bags in my bathrooms and laundry room and they work great. My husband has also been using them to pick up the yard after the dog. We have a 10lb dog so this isn’t really a great test of the strength. We wanted compostable bags so that what went in the landfill would decompose faster. We do not have a commercial compost facility close to us but compost at home. We have not put these in our compost due to fears they would not decompose well. The box does say a commercial facility. These seem to tear off the roll fairly easily, although I have ripped one bag that way, and they hold up with whatever garbage we put in them but none of it has been very heavy or very wet items so I can’t speak to that issue. They do seem a bit on the expensive side for such small bags. I will use the remainder of the roll and if need be update my review accordingly.

I have used the smaller bags for years and they are great for food scraps. Theyy are also great for cat litter box waste, the bags hold up, not leaking or tearing when they sit on my garage floor for days before trash pick up day. Then it occured to me that since I detest the large reusable square bags everyone uses for grocery shopping, why not get the 1 mil think larger 3 gallon version. The bags are just fine for all the soft, not too heavy grocery goods, and have been resued a number of times before a tear – but that’s the same as the old plastic bags that were so convenient. They will tolerate toting several cans as well, but you can’t go too heavy. They were fine holding frozen things also. What a joy being able to replace the annoyinng square resusable bags for most all grocery shopping.

These are nice quality trash bags however unfortunately, I have a small 2.6 gallon rectangular trash can in my kitchen and despite being 3-gallon bags, the drawstrings are too tight to fit inside my can without tearing. (The bags themselves would fit just fine but the drawstrings limit the size of the opening the bags will fit into.) To try to help others figure out if these bags will fit their receptacle, I measured the size of the drawstring opening and it appears to be about 32 inches around.

The good news is that these bags do fit into my 6 liter round bathroom trash can so I will use them there. I love the idea of using compostable trash bags, but I wanted to make sure they weren’t going to start to decompose before I was ready. (Especially because the box includes a note that says, “Dispose of product within 3 days when the bag is holding organic garbage, especially that with a high acidic/alkaline content.”) I have used a single bag in my bathroom for about a month without any noticeable leaks or holes.

The bags are thicker than other trash bags I have used. I really like that the box has a hole on top to dispense the bags. Overall, if these will fit in your bin they are a great choice for a commercially- compostable bags with drawstrings.

Finally a compostable bag that doesn’t shred just taking it out of the box. Will buy again and some other sizes for other uses.

The compostable bags feel sturdy but they break apart in the compost bin before I can put them in the recycle bin. The drawstring is nice though.
