I like the taste, it is definitely more complex and flavorful than the grocery store brands I have used in the past. It adds a nice depth and extra “something” to the dishes it is used in. I would buy from this brand again.

I had heard of the brand ‘Son’ before as being an excellent fish sauce, and was very keen on trying this ‘artisanal’ style. I usually use Red Boat, for comparison, and they spoiled me for any lesser flavor, so I thought it would be hard to impress me, but this managed it! It has a lot of depth and complexity to it, while not being at all overly salty or ‘fishy’. In fact, I was shocked by how much flavor it had! I tried making a nuoc cham with it first, and it was so good I ended up sipping the leftovers like a broth!
While I can absolutely recommend this and say it deserves five stars, the price for the sauce means you need to be choosy about when and how to use it. For cooking I’ll probably stick with Red Boat since its a little cheaper, but this adds so much umami and flavor to sauces I’ll be keeping a bottle of this handy.
