I had never bought freeze-dried blueberries before. They are like astronaut ice cream, crunchy and desiccated, not leathery and chewy, like standard dried berries. I wanted these specifically so that I could grind them in my spice mill and add the powder to my dry ingredients for some baked good–specifically some biscotti I made for the holidays. I also added some cardamom to the recipe, which enhanced the flavor somewhat. The overall taste of the biscotti was not overwhelmingly full of blueberry flavor or color, but it paired nicely with the white chocolate coating and candied ginger bits I sprinkled on top. I purchased another pack of these to use in a recipe for French macarons–fingers crossed! It is hard to imagine snacking on these things out of the bag because of an odd (to me) combination of tartness and brittleness. However, they served my baking purpose exactly as expected.

The product is great, but it is outrageous as to quantity vs cost. I won’t be using freeze dried anything from here on out. I will stick to the air dried products. Much more for your buck and the taste is equally good. This was just a trial for me to compare.

I guess I didn’t read that the pineapples were not freeze dried.. ew chewy. The blueberry were very weird in texture and didn’t “chew” up all the way.
The strawberries were delicious!!

The strawberries are absolutely delicious, the blueberries are quite good and, while we found we do not care for the pineapple that has no inner pith removed, we can imagine others may find it palatable. Now that we’ve tried the assortment, we know which fruits to reorder, as the lack of a super-sugary covering means a lot to our family. We love these no-sugar beauties!

These are AWFUL. The pineapple is not freeze dried as indicated and tastes like cardboard. The blueberries are only filled 1/2 way; again tasting like cardboard. I didnt even bother opening the strawberries. NOT WORTH THE MONEY TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. Will continue to buy the freeze dried fruit at Sam’s Club

I use these in making home made Macarons. Perfect for flavoring.
