I absolutely love this broth!
Since moving to a place where no one seems to know what pho is, this has been a fantastic alternative for making it at home. I also use it to add flavor to other dishes, and it’s excellent. It’s even perfect as a comforting broth when I’m not feeling well.

Incidentally I added Japanese udon soup base to the powdered concoction. You’d expect a flavor overload at that point (I worried it might be too salty), but it actually /made/ it taste exactly like restaurant pho, and even better. The restaurant pho I had was way too sweet, this is just perfect.
You’ll still need to add basil, parsley, onions, fishcakes, beef, what have you. But just like the restaurant I used a dash of lemon juice. And bang, pho.
Definitely will repurchase.

Its alright but barely. the flavor is too mild, the can is not filled to the brim, and you need to use a lot if you want a nice big bowl of pho. but if you’re just buying this to get some emergency pho for when your sick or its a rainy day, then this is fine.

The powder definitely isn’t going to give you restaurant quality broth, but it’s a good base to start with.
We used about 5 cups of water and three heaping teaspoons of the powder. I didn’t add more than that because I didn’t want the star anise/allspice scent to overpower the broth like others have pointed out. We then added sliced onions, thinly sliced brisket, some ginger and garlic, and a bit of fish sauce, and a touch of sugar to make the broth tastier. In the bowl we added rice noodles, bean sprouts, jalapeño peppers, cilantro, Thai basil, and lime juice and it was a pretty decent bowl of pho!
I think next time I will buy some bone broth and use that instead of regular water. It was lacking some depth to the flavor profile and I think it may do the trick.

I have bought this many times and it makes the best Pho broth

I’ve purchased this pho broth mix a few times. It lasts a long time – obviously how much you use it – but maintains flavor even a year after opening. I add extra broth whenever I order pho from a restaurant, and use this to make it! So delicious and highly recommend!

We tried this product, I added more as other reviewers suggested, poured over glass noodles, dehydrated vegetables, and thinly sliced beef.
Even my fussy girlfriend liked it.

Legit high quality broth powder. Tastes great and easy to throw in soups/recipes and for homemade pho. Won’t completely replace a from scratch broth, but is a great addition to any kitchen. My toddler loves it too and he’s super picky.

This is not the same as having Pho at a restaurant, but it has great flavor and is easy to make.

I tried this last night and will say it isn’t bad… still missing something over the restaurant Pho but that is to be expected. Real Pho take many hours to make and this tastes pretty close and only takes minutes to make. I used very lean beef in mine and I think a little more fat would have made it better. It says 1 tsp per cup of water so one container will make a LOT. I will have to experiment with larger amounts per cup as some people have mentioned.
All things considered I will continue to use this as it is easy and tastes good.
