However there were little strings of fibers that looked like small pieces of white hair in it. Not super common but they were there. I used a tea steeping container with fine mesh to keep them out of the beverage, so was fine for my purposes

The product pictures makes this seem like you’re getting a very vibrant green powder. What I received was a brownish powder… maybe slightly green.
The texture is very powdery, but it has little bits of fiber in it too, which is unfortunate for using this in a shaker.
The flavor is definitely citrusy, it reminds me of lemon, but it’s not quite the same. The name of the spice is perfect… it does taste somewhat grassy too. It’s only slightly bitter – much more pleasant to use and eat than dehydrated lemon peal, which tends to be very bitter and harsh.
I ordered this July 2022, and the bag is marked best by March 2025, so a long 32 months expiration from order. Made in India.

I had high hopes from the other reviews I saw but I used this in my chai tea and it does not have the flavor of the real lemongrass. Product is expensive for the price.

Wow the smell is potent as soon as you open the bag. There is almost a sweeter smell compared with fresh if that tells you anything about the potency of this lemongrass powder.
Online resources convert 1 teaspoon powder = 1 lemongrass stalk. Because I like lemongrass in my savory dishes, I used 1.5 teaspoons of powder for every 1 stalk per recipe. There are about 113 teaspoons in this bag. Yeeeah, the quantity is abundant.
I made lemongrass chicken, and this powder unexpectedly made my marinade thicker which was kind of a good thing. I think it actually helped the marinade stick better to the chicken. My lemongrass chicken came out tasting delicious as it should, but a part of me did miss those small woody bits that sometimes appear. I got similar results when I made lemongrass beef…so yummy!
Next I plan on trying out lemongrass panna cotta and lemongrass shortbread. I have plenty to experiment with now!
