This is a perfect letter opener. It is sharp on both sides so it is easy to use when opening your envelopes. It is very sturdy, the blue handle is transparent but a good color. The “blade” is long so even the big envelopes are no problem for this item. It cuts right through anything I have attempted open.

I was sick and tired of using one of those “Envelope Slitters” because sometimes, I ended up slitting up the contents of the envelope if I did not line up the slitter right. I did some research and decided on this letter opener since it was primarily made of Stainless Steel rather than some metal alloy. I was not looking for a fancy looking one but rather something that was sharp enough to open envelopes for a long time. This letter opener is fantastic! It is super sharp, easy to hold and also useful to cut Christmas wrapping paper. One concern I have is that the handle is made of plastic so I wonder about its longevity. I wish the handle was made of stainless steel as well because I would not mind paying more for the quality metal handle that would last longer than plastic one.

This is the best letter opener I have ever used.

Very sharp. In fact, too sharp for safe use. Works very well, but must not handle by the blade. Makes it hard to use safely when stored in desk drawer. Chance are if stored on top of desk the risk of a cut would be much less. It will slice a piece of paper easily. I prefer an opener that isn’t this sharp and can be handled by the blade when removing from desk drawer.

The edge of the blade is much sharper than a traditional letter opener, possibly to compensate for its light weight. The handle is comfortable, the blade length is good for opening correspondence. The plastic handle is bonded around the haft, by about 11/4 inches. I expect these two will last many years the way I use tools. If you put heavy leverage on this, such as prying or twisting, it may fail, but I can’t identify a specific weak spot, other than its light weight. If you are in the habit of using the wrong tool for a job, you will undoubtedly find a way to break it. If this were an expensive item, I would downgrade it for sturdiness, on suspicion. The plastic handle is translucent, so that the (muted) color doesn’t matter. Mine are purple and brown (I think), respectively. The color is not noticeable. For $7, you can’t go wrong.

So, I am not a connoisseur of letter openers. Usually just used the free ones given out at conventions, but no conventions these days so when the last one broke I had to buy a new one. When I saw the price at nearly $7 I was like “what!?” .
Well it arrived yesterday and I have to say, it damn good. Made in AMERICA! Nice feel, great blade. I used it to break down a couple boxes and open a dozen envelopes. No problemo! Highly recommend!
