This is a very nice trimmer at a budget price, and it completely changed my perception of what a Ni-Cd powered trimmer could be.
My only other experience with a Ni-Cd powered trimmer was the gawdawful Remington PG6020, which I thought I was getting at a good price at my local Kohls. They charged $22 for it a full price, and I used one of those $10 gift cards they periodically mail to houses in my neighborhood to bring it down to around $13. Holy cow that was a waste of money. The attachments were hard to use, most of them were useless, and the trimmer was only usable for a couple of minutes after several hours of charging. I used it once, lost the charger somewhere, and decided to cut my losses and just chuck that piece of crap.
That little episode impressed some thoughts into me: 1) That despite the cool premium-sounding name, Remington is willing to release a completely crap product to the masses, and 2) Kohls is as crappy a department store as I expected when they first moved into my neighborhood if they had the gall to sell that trimmer. Nowadays, I only go there to spend those $10 gift cards on socks because most other things in that store are just too expensive and not worth the asking price.
Anyway, onto this Wahl. After a few months of usage, I’m quite impressed by it.
First off, though the instructions say to charge overnight before use, the trimmer had enough battery power for your first trim coming right out of the box. (I would still follow the instructions and charge it first.) And indeed, that battery power is no fluke. So far, I’ve been able to use this Wahl trimmer on average 1.5 months before needing to charge it (I typically trim 1-3 times a week). Not too shabby.
The trimmer itself is quite powerful, and, with or without the included combs, will make short work of trimming even the hardest and most stubborn hairs on your face. And though it’s a bit loud, you’re not living with this noise 24/7, so why should you care so much about how much noise it makes while trimming?
And one of the best attributes is that you can use this trimmer when its battery has drained and is being charged, something that POS Remington couldn’t do.
Overall, I really can’t ask more from a trimmer at this price.
I can only think of a few negatives, one being the quality of the included combs. They’re made of a pretty cheap and hard plastic as other reviews have stated. I try to be gentle and not rip them off the trimmer to prolong their life.
The packaging that the trimmer comes in is also a pain in the butt to take off, and potentially dangerous as you’re opening it. Don’t rip through it to get to your new trimmer, or you might suffer a nasty cut from a sharp plastic packaging edge.

I replaced a broken 15 year old Wahl trimmer as it died for the last time. I like the quality of Wahl products and so purchased this as it seemed the closest to what I wanted.
Many attachments, and way more than I’ll ever use. It seems that it wants to be more than a trimmer and it fails as an overall clipper. Very budget oriented packaging which is fine with me. Pretty eco friendly.
For me, this is a loser as a trimmer. I don’t shave but 2-3 times a year. My old trimmer kept a 1 day stubble look well, but would ‘nip’ my neck occasionally. This does not cut with the same efficiency as the old one and not as close. More like 3 day stubble. With the trimmer attachments it doesn’t cut as efficiently as my old one either. It was quick and easy to get my trimming done. This doesn’t cut as ‘aggressively’ when trimming and takes 2-3 times as long to get the same work done. The transition from 1 day stubble to trimmed goatee, now looks more sloppy and shall we say I have ‘blurred lines’. Less distinction between goatee and ‘shaved’ face.
The nose trimmer works well. I used one 50 years ago and it pulled hair out. This does a nice ‘clip job’. Not sure I’ll continue using it as a pair of scissors has worked since I started to shave.
Overall it’s ok. But, not a hit with me.

What I didn’t like;
1. Charge light way too bright. Lights up the whole room at night.
2. Noisy. Mechanics are obviously cheap and loose fit.
3. Battery. It’s a Nicad, so it has a memory. Will one day soon it will go bad. No one uses Nicads any more for this stuff.
4. Combs clip on and off but not easily.
What I like;
1. Cheap to buy.
2. Looks nice. Shinny metallic plastic. Very nicely done.
I wouldn’t buy it again, but will suffice for what little use it will get.

I’ve been very satisfied with the more expensive and stainless steel version of this trimmer that I’ve used for a few years now, until the plastic button on the unit disintegrated suddenly one day. Plastic will do that, I have discovered over the years: it is fine until suddenly it reaches an age where its structural integrity is suddenly lost and it literally crumbles to pieces. I’ve seen it happen with an old set of ski boots that crumbled to pieces when pulled out for the first time in a few years (that was something to behold!) I’ve experienced it with a pair of running shoes that I kept in the closet too long, the soles literally turning to powder as I took my first steps. I’m familiar with this phenomenon, but it always makes me a little angry when it happens. Especially when the rest of whatever the plastic thing is attached to is perfectly fine. Anyway, the old Wahl has a plastic switch and it crumbled.
Faced with spending twenty vs eighty dollars to replace the old one, I went with this version as a trial. It’s fine so far. The cutting head is narrower and the attachments from the other one don’t fit this one, but it came with its own, so no big deal. I don’t like the lightweight, cheap feel of it, but for a quarter to a third the price, I can live with it. The technical stats say the battery on this one loses its charge quicker, but I haven’t noticed that yet. I still like the stainless steel version better. Thus the rating.

I had one of these and after several hears the re-chargeable battery got weak and a battery costs $10 and not user friendly to install but a replacement clipper was $25.
Good clipper.
My old clipper had a stand, new one had to use my old clipper stand.

I bought this in 2016 and threw it away about a month ago. The issue was that the guard started occasionally popping off mid trim, which is not good! The first pic is how I rigged it to not pop off and I even emailed WAHL about it with a suggestion on the fix. Well, after a while it would STILL pop off, even with my rigged contraption. About a month ago I picked out a replacement for it and the replacement trimmer was horrible! So, after searching all night without really finding anything I decided to order another WAHL and I was going to Gorilla Glue the guard on (the devil that I know kind of thing). Then I got the new WAHL and was so happy! They have made an alteration that has fixed the issue! If you look at the second pic close you will see, right in the middle there is a part of the guard that locks into a little gap in the shaft that makes it very secure. Now this is an absolute beast! With that fix, this is probably the best trimmer out there – it’s like a tank and gets very close to every angle you have on your face to give a great trim. Good job WAHL! Now, just give me a penny for every new one sold for the tip – LOL.

After 60 years, I finally decided to grow a beard but wanted to keep it neat. This trimmer does exactly that. Easy to use and delivers excellent quality. Extremely long run time between charging

The beard trimmer is exactly the quality I expected. It works exceptionally well, and if it weren’t for the battery, operated nose trimmer, I would have given it five stars. The nose trimmer is a joke. With fresh batteries in it, it sounds like it’s dying. The moment it hits your nose hairs, it slows down almost to a stop. Doesn’t have much affect on the nose hairs (and I have very fine nose hairs, not coarse and thick.) I had no interest in the nose trimmer to begin with, but I couldn’t find the beard trimmer separately.

Nice beard trimmer that has 1 hour of recharge time. It has 14 different beard trimming lengths, from 1/16 to 1/2 inch! If you travel overseas, it has both the US 110 volts and overseas 220 volt. It does a really good job of trimming. Very smooth and consistent beard length. I believe this is one of the best for the money.
